I'm interested in majoring in Broadcasting and I've looked into Chapman a bit. How are the connections in the Industry and such comapred to schools ike emerson, NYU and USC?

Also, while I do realize this is a Chapman forum, does anyone know of any other great schools for this? thanks!

Emerson is not as well known, on the west coast at least, as Chapman is. NYU and USC are great schools of course, but Chapman is definitely moving its way up in the rankings, if you're looking to work in the big budget side of the industry I'd say go to USC or Chapman if you're into more indie style work go to NYU

Jay Leno went to Emerson...but I'm sending my kid to Chapman

In the East, the "man-on-the-street" has heard of UCLA, because of football; Berkeley because of the 1960's, and Stanford because of genius.

USC and Chapman unknown here, outside of industry insiders of course.

Also in the East, NYU has the big name and everything else (Emerson, Ithaca) runs second-tier in notoriety.

We tried to get outside of the regional limitations by looking up the professional associations (such as Screenwriter's Guild of America) to see who THEY thought were
important in the industry. They'll compare both coasts and in-between.

Is there a professional guild or association for broadcasters that's national?

Good luck. Don't go by the man-in-the-street; go by what those inside the industry say, IMHO
