Brokeback Mountain

I saw people starting random threads on other boards that spawned great conversations, so I figured, "Why not?"

I just saw Brokeback Mountain last night, and have been reeling ever since. Undoubtedly, my favorite movie just because of its long lasting impression, and copious thought provoking concerns/questions/comments it raised for me. The utter sadness of it all, especially the last scene, just grows and grows after the movie is long over. The scenes replay in my head, and I can't imagine what it must feel like to realize that you've lost what most people never find.

What did you guys think of it?

Haha, random topic but yeah i thought it was great, too, and I'm not afraid to say so. I'm glad Crash won the oscar though.

BBM is great. Heath Ledger's performance is one of the most affecting ever. It really got me.

Yea, I wrote an arts review in my school paper about it. I raved about it and its social implications, and go figure....it has won state and national awards

I am not saying it was a bad movie, but can u say overhyped?????

Boo. :p I didn't think Crash was THAT great. BBM was IMO more deserving, but I have to say, the reaction of the fans was ridiculous. I've heard way too many people call it the greatest injustice in Oscar history (um, hello, Citizen Kane anyone?).

OMG. Citizen Kane.................****er. But seriously BBM is my favorite of all time. I think what really impresses me, other than the acting, was the score! Santaolalla (the composer) is genius. "The Wings" (the guitar song that occurs throughout the movie, including the last scene).

I wouldn't call it the biggest injustice in oscar history but Crash is one of the most overrated movies ever. I definitely liked it but Brokeback was way more original and bold.

brokeback's the overrated one . . . crash was awesome.

Wow...great feedback guys.
I actually read the short story before the movie when I learned the movie was coming out.
...cause you know, the literature that movie adaptations tends to come from is usually better.

i gotta say, the script was almost 100% true to the original. great movie.

haha, this is the first time ive ever really expressed an opinion on that movie. down where i live...almost NO ONE watched it. it came to our theaters about 5 months after it came out nationally. yep, living in the good ol' closed minded bible belt haha

I thought it was the most heartbreaking movie I've ever seen.

I thought it WAS the most heartbreaking film ever. Because of societal pressurs, he missed out on something great. And because of that his existence diminished. Gosh. I really need to stop. I've been really sad about that the whole day, because I just can't stop thinking about it. How many of us are ever going to find true love? I mean, my parents for example. Happy couple. Never once argued. Make eachother laugh. But it's definitely not TRUE love. Ya know. That person you can't live without because that person makes you.

most heartbreaking film ever? come on guys

...And now we get into the discussion of whether or not "true love" exists in our world today. Not that I'm saying it's a bad topic ;).

Hey, I'm saying true love exists. I'm just saying that only a few will ever be able to find it.
