Brown 2014 - ED applicants

Welcome, briguy. Though the Penn boards may be dead, I’m an international, and of the 7 people applying ED to the US from my school, 6 applied ED to UPenn haha (I guess I was quite the anomaly). So basically I hear about UPenn all day, every day.

Hellooo :)

I was going to avoid joining the conversation because I thought it may jinx my chances…lol. But I have a problem.

I was contacted by my interviewer, and I sent him an email back, blah blah, he responded once, and now he stopped responding. I’ve sent two emails and he just ignores/doesn’t get them. Maybe Brown told him I suck and don’t waste your time. But, anywho, I was thinking of calling admissions, but I don’t want to make it seem as if I can’t do it myself, but also if I was offered an interview and didn’t take it that may look sketch. But, dude, I sent him two emails since his last contact and I have heard nada and this isn’t fair.

What would you guys suggest to do? I want to cry, I’m sitting on pins and needles checking my email allllll the time. And I don’t wanna be a arsehat and email him AGAIN.

/cool story bro

@Flutterfly Here’s a fool-proof strategy: send him another email saying that your email server was down for __ days, and ask if he received any of your previous correspondence. Dramacratic introduced me to this plan, and it has never failed for me :p

@briguy: You’re welcome to just hang out here if you like. The more the merrier! :D

@Adeyadi: I remember vaguely hearing something of the sort a while ago. Oh well, I have nooooo clue how many ED applicants there are from India, haha :p

ok flutterfly. first of all calm down. it is so not that serious. i have heard of alot of people that didnt take their interviews and still got in. but if you really dont want to leave any bases untouched then call admissions. it is not that serious and they would be more than happy to help.

@jackbenimble4: THANK YOU FOR ADDING MY CAPTIONS! :slight_smile: :)

and where are you from rose?

@tetrisfan- lawlzzz maybe, i feel like a jerk for lying, though.

@adeyadi okay, I think I’ll call admissions tomorrow, I would really like to have an interview cause I’m a chatter. Thank you!

haha!!! ok. im a chatterbox too =) where are you from?

Long Island. What about you?

@flutterfly: Considering how the alumnus in question agreed to be an interviewer, I think it’s his/her responsibility to get back to you regarding the interview. Don’t feel too guilty ;).

@tetrisfan THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I SAID I can understand being busy, but why agree to do it when you’re gonna be a jerk? He could have refused or never signed up for it, instead of making someone else stressed.

Thank YOU tetrisfan for the slogans! I was running out of ideas.

@flutterfly: EXACTLY! Anyway, maybe you should give it a couple of days and then get back to the admissions office - they only have till December 1st to submit the interview reports.

@jackbenimble4: Don’t mention it :). If I think of more stuff, I’ll send it along.

@tetris yeah I think I’ll call either tomorrow or on tuesday. maybe they will assign me someone else.

@ Adeyadi - I’m from Canada. Not the most exciting International, but it’s international nonetheless.

@flutterly: Let’s hope that they do!

@mynameisrose: Yayyy another international :p

Oh my lord… I’m new to this. I’ve been reading for a while, but have never posted anything.

I had my interview this past Friday. I think it went very well, but I’m unbearably self-critical, so I spazzed out about it the rest of the evening. However, my interviewer told me she thought that “Brown would really benefit from me.” I suppose that is good. (?)

The thing about which I’m freaking out most is the day decisions will actually be released. Last year it was December 11th, and obviously I hope it’s the same this year. However, I just really need to know either way!

Woooo! Internationals unite!
All my friends make fun of me for what I’ve gotten myself into. Applying to Canadian universities takes literally less than 5 minutes, I kid you not. And this whole chancing business doesn’t exist. If your average is over a certain number (for example, to get into McGill arts you need an 87%) you’re basically in, no questions asked. GAHHSALJJKFDJF. Done rant.
But Brown is obviously so worth it :)

@mynameisrose: Haha, in India admissions are based purely on academics. Each university has a separate “entrance exam” which people study for by rote memorization, I kid you not. We have a whole bunch of drones here, and a few people who genuinely like learning new things. Liberal arts ftw ;)

@FilmNerd92: 11th = perfect :)

P.S. To add a tidbit of information: I spoke with my college counselor, and he’s been in close contact with my representative from Brown. The rep said that they (being the admissions officers) had not gone to committee yet, and therefore, they are probably still reading through apps for the first time. Typically they pick 10-15% the first time as acceptances, 10-15% the first time as rejections, and then they go to committee with the rest. They usually don’t go to committee without the Interviewers’ recommendations, so they probably want go until Dec. 1. Just something to think about/agonize over…
