Brown 2014 - ED applicants

tetrisfan, that sounds godawful. what a terrible learning environment…
liberal arts ftw, most definitely!

I would like to be present in the committee room! who really says “NO” to the applications and who says that sweet “yes, you are admitted”!!!

EDIT: From Miami/Cuba!

i’m from long island too!!! it seems like there is alot of people from new york that is on this site…=)

I’m from Kansas. I hope living in a small town in the Midwest gives me some sort of an edge.

Adeyadi/other NY-ers - New Yorkers make up the second largest group at Brown. Number one, I believe, is Boston-area folk.

For your video of the day: A recap of facts we all already know, but isn’t it FUN to watch them in video form!?

Long Island ftw!
I had my interview today, i think it went pretty well. I didnt ask about when decisions go up, though in retrospect i should have!
so there’s like no definite date that the decisions come out? like anywhere from the 11th to 15th is possible?

@mynameisrose: I know! It’s quite pathetic, really…I actually make an effort to understand the principles behind various phenomena (in, say, physics) while others just memorize the root causes of the phenomena, spill out a few words and the accompanying derivations/diagrams during the exams, and walk out none the wiser.

(Yeah, I CAN’T BLOODY WAIT TO GET OUT!!!)

My name is Delano from North Carolina planning to be part of the great Class of 2014 at Brown! Major: English Minor: French Studies

I hope I get it! GOSH Brown is my place! I would have applied ED but I had not taken my SAT Subject Tests yet. I’m so scare because you never know with admissions. I hope everyone up here get in! Ruth Simmons, if you reading this GET US IN! LOL

Welcome, Delano!

Hi! Thanks

So…what’s everybody reading right now?

The Road by Cormac McCarthy. The film coming out and I like to read books before the film comes out and compare them. You know what grinds my gears! Twilight! It’s a bad book and the movies are bad but I have no idea why I am still seeing them. The author can not write and the characters are terrible and whiny! It’s not even a soap opera! The story, what story! they are terribel!

YES YES YES! Twilight is rubbish. You know, when I was 13, I was a part of the whole fad. I read the first novel and was all “ZOMG Edwardddddddd.” But then, when I read the second and third novels, I started realizing what utter crap it all was. I read Breaking Dawn just because I hate leaving a series hanging (annnd because I needed to argue with all the Edward obsessives in my class :p). But yes, it’s mucho terrible (I clearly know no Spanish). I haven’t seen either of the movies, though, and I absolutely don’t intend to do so in the future. And seriously, how is Robert Pattinson considered cute!? confused look

I’m not reading anything literary right now; I have finals. However, I’m binging on comics - the ULTIMATE guilty pleasure :D. xkcd is my all-time favorite, followed closely by Calvin & Hobbes. Right now, I’m devouring all the Pearls Before Swine collections which my local bookstore had (5 books filled with panels of snarky heaven :p).

The story for Breaking Dawn is kind of perverted! lol spoiler Jacob imprints on Bella and Edward’s baby that ages fast! Twilight has nothing on Harry Potter I think, the movies are great and the books have interesting stories [and no I am not applying to Brown because of Emma Watson!]

I love comics like Watchmen. You know graphic novels.

Haha I have read Breaking Dawn, so I’m versed with the weird-ass story (:p). But yeah, gotta give HP credit for being the infinitely better fantasy series.

Never really given graphic novels a shot. Perhaps I should try them out in the long interim between school and college.

@Adeyadi ahh! long island twinsies! Watch we go to the same school and don’t even know it~!

@tetrisfan Same thing, I read the books and I was young and dumb and finally I had a realization that this was a freaking creepy book, and robert pattinson is so fug, he has such a flat face. and kristen stew sounds like a man. everyone is freaking over new moon, people were absent from school because they went to the midnight prem. The Vatican even released a statement about how horrible the books are and saying they’re a “moral vacuum with a deviant message”

Ew, I can’t stand Twilight. I’ve had MANY heated arguments about it.
lovesbrownu - you can’t minor at Brown, just so you know. Welcome to our clan!
