It’s such an overrated phenomenon. Whew. I’m glad I came to my senses :-/. Besides, it sounds gooooood to say that I read Chuck Palahniuk and Michael Crichton instead of Stephanie Meyer :p.

Heya Ivy!!

I scared everyone away :-/.

Way to go, tetris.

@tetrisfan I love palahniuk! which is your favorite? I love Invisible Monsters.

I’m finally getting around to reading Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer. I read Everything is Illuminated a while back and I think it’s one of my favourite books. I absolutely love the post-modernist writing style. It’s so interesting, I find myself thinking about some of the phrases randomly haha. But I’m loving this one too so far.

I, too, have unfortunately read Twilight. Two years ago I read them all in the span of the two weeks during my finals in June as a distraction. All I could think the entire time was, “Damn, Edward’s a creeeppp.” That ZOMG EDWARD phase lasted a whole of an hour. I just think it’s a terrible example for kids to be following, what with Bella being completely consumed by boys, falling into a depression when Edward leaves her. Robert Pattinson was 10 times hotter as Cedric Diggory anyways, so whatevs.

to be honest, not just meyer, but chrichton and rowling are all not very good
tolkien is good, but even he stays far behind the classics

Chiming in on Twilight… I read the books two years ago, and I liked them up until Breaking Dawn. I hated it, plus I didn’t want to associate myself with all of the newly emerging annoying fangirls. Besides, Edward and Bella are the most annoying couple of all time (OF ALL TIME), and they’re setting a terrible example of relationships for younger girls. I’ve ranted about it many times. :] I don’t think Stephanie Meyer is necessarily a bad writer, I just think her characters can be very annoying. Her book The Host is very good, and I recommend it if you like Scifi.

ANYWAY, I will admit to having a huge crush on Jacob/Taylor Lautner. MAN. He is beautiful. I love him.

I’m currently reading Earth Abides. Or, well, it’s next on my to read list; I don’t have it yet.

random fact:

When you sneeze, all your bodily functions stop even your heart.

and to all fyou twilight haters, the book is pretty good except for the second one which was just a waste of the author’s and my time, and around the time when everyone and their mother was reading the book which is just absolutely annoying because then everyone is talking about the book and it has lost its value…but anyway. if you guys would actually take the time to reads the book and not go in there with a predetermined view on the book, you would actually enjoy it.

@flutterfly: haha! that would be funny! but i know we dont go to the same school because my guidance counselor told me i was the only one to apply early for brown =) but we might be in the same school district =)

Whoaa…another Long Islander??? It’s been WAY too long since I’ve posted–darn you, Drama Hell Week! Anyway, I’m back for good now, so bring on the Brown Obsession Sessions! =] =]

^ yay!!! i was wondering where you were in all these conversations!!! i miss your point of views!

Haha, aw! Glad to know I was missed!
Yeah, my show was this past weekend, so I didn’t get home until well after 11:30 all of last week. Add to that the Intel STS Deadline (just got e-mail confirmation…yessss) and all of the work from my AP classes, and you can see why I went MIA for a bit.

How are youuu?

i’m good =) got my intel stuff in on time. i didnt know they sent out email confirmations!! but even if i did know i dont know which email…i have to many…and they alot i use professionally…yikes!!! =) but yea. we are all waiting patiently…

Patiently? Really??
Because personally, I’m just about to go nuts with anxiety…

haha!!! i have to wait patiently. there is no way for me to speed up time. so i just try to forget that i even applied to college so that i could live and be able to function without every thought being about it. maybe when it gets closer to the date i might start freaking out to the point of passing out. but until then wusa!! =)

@Adeyadi: I did read the books with an open mind. Heck, I was 13…I wasn’t cynical enough to be particularly bigoted back then :p. I just got way too cynical way too soon after that and realized that the books weren’t all too great. But that’s just my opinion, variety is the spice of life :).

@flutterfly: I’ve only read Fight Club so far (yes, I’m a newbie)! I’ve got a copy of Choke on my desk, and the copy of Survivor that I picked up had a totally messed up print order, so I’m going to have to scour the city for that again. I haven’t seen Invisible Monsters around - his books aren’t particularly popular down here, so you can’t really find too many of them in a book store. Oh well, there’s always college in America to devour more of his works ;).

@Tetris: Why are you up so early?! And why didn’t I get a message?

@DC: Finals do such dastardly deeds to me. A message is on its way!

@ tetris: thank you for at least going into it with an open mind =) i really dont mind the book and i agree with you guys on the point that the image that it displays to the younger generation is negative. i think i like it mostly because it is fantasy and it takes me out of reality even only for a short while hate it when books end…i know that is not a good way to judge a book at all so if you guys have any books to recommend i would greatly appreciate it because right now at the rate i am going with books, i think i could finish the library in a few months…
