@Vronsky , how do you know all of this? Do you know of anyone who has heard so far? I’m also a waitlisted international student who applied for econ.
I’m assuming Vronsky goes to a school with a well-connected GC. My GC had told me I was high on the waiting list, when they knew they were going to the waiting list, and that I was in the day before my admissions package came in the mail. He had direct access to the admissions office at basically every school in the top 25.
I know you got off the waitlist quite a long time ago so it may have been ranked then, but do you think that Brown ranks the waitlist to a degree, even now, even if they claim they don’t?
@iwannabe_Brown What about now? Does he/she or you know what’s going on? Are you a Brown Alum?
@rzoomzoom My prediction is totally based on the past forums and a little logic. They won’t call during the morning since many kids are stilling in class. Nor will they call after 7 pm as it will be disturbing. So the only time period available will be the afternoon, like a little past 3 pm.
How are you so sure it’ll release today?
@iwannabe_Brown My GC doesn’t really have that kind of connection with Brown, at least not that I know of. But even if one is “ranked” high in the list, it still depends on whether Brown will take any at all from the list this year. I’m quite optimistic about that, but the statistics indicate the other way.
I think I’m but I don’t want to send out any false hope, so let’s just wait…all I can say is that by the end of this week Brown will definitely release the waitlist decision
Fingers crossed for good news.
I don’t think it’s ranked, I think they just use it to fill any gaps in the class to ensure that it is as diverse as possible. So if a lot of physics and history majors don’t commit to Brown, the’d use the waitlist to find more prospective physics and history majors. They also consider gender ratio and the applicant’s location.
Is it possible that the decisions had been made and none of us on this thread got in? That’d be dreadful lol
Just heard a friend from China got in.
Hi everyone! I was just offered a position 20 minutes ago by Brown! This forum has meant so much for me in the past month, as I lingered onto the last bit of hope. I understand that any updates mean much to everyone, so it is only fair if I shared this piece information.
Suddenly a decision needs to be made between Brown and LSE.
@bpascal How did you find out? Could you share the contents of your notification?
Anyone know if spots will continue to be offered throughout the week?
@rzoomzoom They notified me via email, saying there has been an update.
The notification letter just discussed the basic logistics including when I need to reply and a few words of congratulation. Nothing regarding the overall waitlist process.
What major did you apply for?
I graduated from high school in 2005 and that GC has since retired. I’m sure my high school’s current one is just as connected but I’m not going to call them, sorry.
@snaccbrown the waitlist is never ranked in the sense that they go 1 2 3 4 5 etc because they have to consider the makeup of the entire class but there is obviously a top tier of people. The idea that there isn’t any stratification is foolish - what are they going to do? Throw a few thousand apps into a pool without any sense as to who is going to come off first?
@rzoomzoom economics, physics
