Hey guys I got waitlisted at Brown this year. How many people do you think they’ll take off the waitlist?
@chaboonz I got waitlisted too, and I have a feeling that they will not accept many, since they had the largest applicant pool in history. I doubt that many people will decline Brown’s offer; maybe those who do not find the financial aid sufficient or those who got accepted to other Ivies. Good luck!
I spoke to the admission office today and they said that they took around 250 applicants off the waitlist which is unbelievable; however, he did stress that it was an odd year and not to rely on that outlier. Let us just keep hope alive however!!! Have you guys written your letters of continued interest? i am doing mine right now
This article has recent waitlist statistics:
http://www.browndailyherald.com/2015/09/10/waitlist-admissions-see-huge-jump-for-class-of-2019/
It looks like this year they admitted 2250 people from the regular decision pool while they took 1970 people last year. That’s more than 200 more admitted students from regular decision. Is this bad for us?
Hey guys, has any of you received any answers from the admission office?
No…have you?
Did everyone on the wl get an email
Yesterday reminding them to accept or deny the wl spot by the 2nd? Do they send that email every year? Wondering if it means anything specific about having more spots to fill this year or not.
@Swerve8 I didn’t get any such email. I accepted my spot they day after decisions were posted.
When do you think they will start informing us about their decisions?
Their final decision date for RD acceptances as today. So they probably wont even know if they’re going to look at the waitlist at all this year before the end of the first week of May. After that, I’m not sure, but sometime before the end of June is customary.
Hi guys, I’m on the waitlist too and I just wanted to point out that even though they have a higher number of applicants this year I believe they are also admitting a larger class, so keep your hopes up!
Hi, I am an international student on the wait list. I was just wondering if any of you are planning to call the admissions office to know if they’re going to use the wait list.
Following
I emailed my regional representative for Brown at the beginning of April. This is what he responded with:
Thank you for your email and continued interest in Brown University. As you can imagine, competition for such limited slots is intense each year at Brown. We appreciate you keeping your ‘hat in the ring’ so to speak as we see the class slowly but surely take shape over the coming weeks. We don’t expect to have any information regarding the waiting list until mid-May. At that time, we can start contacting those students, such as yourself, to let them know if any movement is occurring and where their candidacy lies.
We thank you for your understanding and patience for the next few weeks, and do suggest enrolling at another institution that you have been admitted to by May 1 to ensure your place in college next fall. I would also suggest finding out what stipulations exist at that college in case you were to be pulled from Brown’s (or another schools) waiting list. Please let me know if you have additional questions and we will start having a clearer idea of things come mid-May.
Hello friends! Just posting to wish everyone best of luck now that its may and waitlist acceptances will soon be underway. Hope we all receive good news!
Quick question: before, my status on the Brown applicant portal said ‘committed to waitlist’ and also ‘decisions not available,’ and now the committed to waitlist status is gone. Does anybody know what that means? I wanna check there hasn’t been a computer glitch or anything.
@mercurians This happened to me, too. Also, when I go to the Financial Aid tab and click on “award overview,” there is an offer. I don’t think this really means anything, but hopefully they’ll be letting us know in the next few days.
@mercurians yeah mine also says that
i don’t have any financial aid stuff; where is this tab? would i still have it even if i didnt apply financial aid?
