Brown 2022 Waitlist

@iwannabe_Brown so those are the only two ways that current waitlisted (but not offered) students can be offered spots?

@rzoomzoom For all intents and purposes, yeah.

I forget if all Z-listing (being accepted to Brown 2023 instead of Brown 2022) happens when the initial decisions come out or if they will make that offer to someone after it becomes clear they aren’t getting in this year. I’m guessing Z-listing is much more common with the initial decisions because I imagine it would be very hard for a kid, 2+ weeks after committing to a school for Fall 2018, to withdraw so that they can take a gap year and go to Brown in 2019. Would be a much easier sell for someone on March 30th who hasn’t mentally/financially committed to another school already.

I guess theoretically people could withdraw from Brown at this point for some reason other than a WL acceptance elsewhere but that’s going to be a far smaller number than rejected waitlist offers + leaving for another school. They’re not going to arbitrarily increase the class size at this point so what other circumstances are you even imagining where Brown starts admitting more people?

Anyone hear back?

Still waiting. Been a week since the first wave and today’s the deadline for the response.

Same

I’m just guessing but if yesterday was the response deadline my guess is the earliest decisions go out is Monday.

There are seven new people in the Brown facebook group - it’s either because of an unconfirmed second wave of waitlist acceptances (smh) or they’re from the first wave and just joining now.

I have lurked on this board for a long time–it has been such a good source of information, and since I know how much the updates have meant to everyone, I thought I should share with you that my daughter heard from Brown today, and she was accepted from the waitlist. So there is still movement on the list–Best of luck to everyone!

@TheLongSlog What time did she hear from them? Was it via email?

@TabScreen2 She got an email around 2pm Pacific time. It was just like the ones from the first wave of acceptances–it just said that there was a status update and she should log in to the portal.

What was her concentraiton and when does she need to reply by?

My daughter was accepted off wait list yesterday, by email, around 5:00 pm EDT

What was her intended major and will she accept the offer?

She was admitted to the Olin Business School at Wash U St. Louise. She is going to accept.

accept Brown

@snaccbrown My daughter was given until 5/30 to make her decision, but she has already committed to Brown. She is hoping to concentrate in Urban Studies, and Brown was her top choice. She wrote what I thought was a very strong LOCI. Her college counselor also wrote another letter on her behalf, including a new (short, just a paragraph or two) recommendation from another teacher. I wouldn’t necessarily advise sending more teacher recs, but this one was short and within the email from the college counselor, and there were reasons why it was pertinent.

Would anyone that’s been accepted mind posting their general geographic region? It might be helpful to see if they’re targeting certain areas. In last year’s thread there were multiple people accepted at the same time all from Northern Virginia.

Coastal Georgia

Pacific NW.

I don’t think they sent decisions this week. It definitely means the class is full
