Hello everybody :) I'm currently a junior in HS and I'm a very serious violinist. I really want to apply to Brown, Cornell, U of Chicago, UCLA and CU Boulder. Since I've been home-schooled since first grade, I have no idea if my test scores are good enough for these colleges so it would be great if anyone could advise me if I have any chance for these schools and also some constructive advice on what I could work on for my senior year would be much appreciated. Thank you.

*Guest Principal Second Violin, Gustav Mahler Youth Symphony Orchestra 2010.

*Finalist candidate for admission to the Curtis Institute of Music in 2008.

Your test scores are definitely up to par. I’m not sure how homeschoolers are viewed though, sorry However, your violin accomplishments are significant and your passion is clear, which will help you a lot in admissions :)

SAT: great.
SAT subject tests: great.
Your numerical stats match all of the colleges on your list.
Your dedication to music is certainly something spectacular!

I would just recommend working on your essays. Being homeschooled gives you a different perspective from a majority of students here in the US.

Oh, and I should be more specific about each particular college. Based solely off of these stats:

Brown: reach (for anyone).
Cornell: high match / low reach.
U of Chicago: reach.
UCLA: most likely a match (are you a CA resident?).
CU Boulder - match / solid.
