Brown Class of 2017 RD!

To everyone who applied, good luck! I’m not applying yet but I didn’t see a class of 2017 discussion for Brown so I thought I’d make one!

How was your interview and your application? Thoughts, feelings? Are you guys relieved now that apps are over?

If I apply today or tomorrow, will I still get an interview?

I think you will if you apply today, but double check just in case.

Out of all the applications I filled out - all 17 - I felt like my Brown application was the best and most complete representation of my character and personality. I guess that’s natural with 8 or 9 supplement responses.

I applied two days ago! Anyone know how long it takes for Brown to reply to you about application stuff, like online account stuff? How long till they might set up an interview?

Probably this week or next week I think, graysonw.

ealdi94, that’s great to hear! Hopefully Brown sees that in your application as well!

Online accounts: within 2 weeks or so.
Interviews: could be as late as early March. It all depends on the regional director for your area, so it can differ greatly.

Good luck all.

@bruno thanks for the info!

@magentaturtle did you apply to brown? I remember seeing you in the dartmouth ed forums.

Yes, I did. I was deferred!

How are you?

After Dartmouth denied me I looked at my essays and overall application and realized it needed a lot of work. So I wrote new essays and I feel much more confident this time around. Where else did you apply?

I didn’t know your interview could be after you submitted your application!

The interview has to be after you submit your application - how else would they know you’re applying?

Haha I didn’t think of that…I just assumed you booked a time with the interviewer and they somehow knew you were applying, your stats, and everything.

You’ll be contacted by your interviewer. If you have any other interview questions, read fireandrain’s awesome thread about Brown interviews:

Thanks! So for those who have had an interview to any schools, how did it go, and do you have any tips?

Just fyi IvyLeague2020, each school has a different interview process. For example, MIT expects you to contact your interviewer about a month before the app deadline to set up an interview, so you have to be on top of the process for all your schools to make sure you don’t miss anything. PM me if you have any questions, I don’t check this forum that often (not applying to Brown). Good luck everyone!

I am ready to apply but I keep looking at my “Architect of your Education” essay and I’m not sure whether I grasped the concept well.

What did it mean to you guys?

I basically talked about the Open Curriculum and how I would benefit from it in relation to what I wanted to pursue.
