I just hope I get accepted… Maybe they will see some glimmer of hope in my essays because my scores are nothing to write home about :P

Hi guys! I quite enjoyed my REA Stanford thread, so I thought I’d join in the fun here.
I’m from TEXAS. woo. I want to study Psychology/Cognitive Neuroscience <3

Where did everyone else apply?

@aery! Fellow cognitive neuroscience prospect here!

@ram! Yesss that’s the way to go, for sure. What got you interested?

Love biology and was fixed on majoring in it. Recently learned I love psych after a semester of AP. Knew I had to combine it. Love that neuroscience is so interdisciplinary. Ik its not exactly bio + psych. But, its the closest. You?

@aery and ram - neuroscience here too! I’m just fascinated by brains and biology… lol. Are you guys doing PLME?

Nope wanted too! It’s an amazing program that I know a few HYPS acceptees chose over any other school. Are you? I just stuck to the regular neuro major!

I applied, but who knows… the 3% acceptance rate really isn’t a joke. I’d be absolutely elated to get into Brown with or without it. swoon Brown is just perfect, I don’t really know what else to say :3

I worked so hard on my supplement for Brown, so I hope the ADCOM can see that and vote to accept me.

Brown has everything I want in a college and to be accepted would be the best thing to happen to me. I’m trying not to get too anxious because as stupiddorkyidiot said, their acceptance rate isn’t a joke, but March 28 needs to be tomorrow.

Ram - It was actually the exact opposite for me; I was very into Psych and was like, “alkjdf I’ll be a psychologist weehee.” And then I took Anatomy/Physiology and Bio and decided I wanted to be a Psychiatrist.

Stupiddorkyidiot (I do feel silly typing that, haha)- nah, I didn’t apply to PLME because I didn’t know I was interested in medicine until this year and hadn’t taken very many advanced science classes (nothing but AP Bio and Honors Anatomy/Physiology). Also, I hadn’t done much research, volunteered in a hospital, blah blah blah. All my extracurriculars were elsewhere. I know for a fact I would not be a competitive applicant in the PLME pool. GOOD LUCK TO YOU THOUGH. Hot damn. 3%. Brown’s not ****ing around, eh?

Deferred ED. Here I am RD. I still think Brown is my first choice, but I have UChicago in the bag already so that’s nice. Also applied to Amherst, Williams, and Princeton.

Deferred early so here I am. Brown remains my top choice but I am doubtful I’ll get in regular. Applied to 16 other places I think, so I’m hoping for the best somewhere.

I just sent my application in

Also deferred ED And really doubtful that I’ll get in RD, but still hoping. I’m going for Engineering, and being Hispanic definitely doesn’t hurt lol. I just hope that wasn’t the only reason why I was deferred…

Wait so RD has a 3% acceptance rate? Where are you guys getting this info from? I thought it was around 9%??? AHHH!

It won’t be that low. Two years ago when my son applied, it was 8.7% overall and 7.5% in RD.

Edit: if you’re talking about PLME, I have no idea. But nothing prevents you from attending Brown anyway and applying to med school later.

Oh gosh, 3% is the PLME figure! I took that off its website. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to needlessly scare anyone. I believe the RD rate was around 8% last year.

I also applied RD for PLME. That 3% acceptance rate…f m l.

^Word. Especially since I don’t have any of the research/internships/relevant ECs/what have you which I’m sure the tippity-top applicants do. Obviously the admissions committee can afford to be beyond choosy, so I’m hoping at this point that my essays were astounding. (Which they probably weren’t, but a girl can dream… This has been my motto throughout the whole college process.)

Edit: I just looked at the website again and the acceptance rate is actually just around 5%. Apparently I have shoddy arithmetic skills. Either way, that’s ridiculous.

LOLOL those arithmetic skills.

I have lots of research, clinical, and leadership experience. That doesn’t really make me feel confident about my chances though. You never can be with a 5% acceptance rate akwerjgefrgr

Luckily I’m sitting on a Stanford acceptance so I don’t have to think about this too much. But PLME is, without a shadow of a doubt, my first choice (didn’t apply ED due to finances). I could see myself picking Brown even without PLME as well.
