I applied to PLME rd. I don’t expect to get in, purely because there aren’t many opportunities for such lofty extracurricular activities in my country, particularly concerning medicine. However I think that my essays were spectacular and so were my recommendations. It’s just a matter of wait and see now guys. I would say it’s anyone’s game but I would be lying. It would be awesome to get in though.

I applied for the PLME RD and I got an email for alumni interview. Is this interview for undergrad admission interview or for PLME? My interviewer is an MD and I am not sure whether this is for PLME or regular admission? Does PLME has separate interview? Please advice so I will know what to prepare. Please share some interview questions. thanks.

MDdoctor, this interview is only for the undergraduate admissions and has nothing to do with the PLME. PLME does not have a separate interview. Just go in there and be yourself, this has almost no weight at all in your actual admissions, and the interview will likely be just a conversation about you.

Everything that the above post said is correct. PLME is a unique in BS/MD programs in that they have no intermediate “interview” phase with brown or alpert for the program itself. But in my recommendation, make sure you mention PLME in your alumni interview if the interview doesn’t ask/talk about it cause he should get info from Brown that has that listed under your info.

what a relief! thanks everyone

I applied RD. I was wondering if someone can shed some light on tuition for the medical program. I understand the cost of attending per year ( 2013-2014) is around 60k for the UG program but I didn’t find any good info for the medical program. All i see is this - Tuition for the first four years of the program is the same as that of the College. Tuition for the Medical School is somewhat higher than the college tuition, but consistent with other private medical schools. Tuition is determined each year by vote of the Brown Corporation. Anyone know ?

Well as you know Brown PLME is 8 year program, 4 years UG and 4 years MD. The total fee for UG every year is in the neighborhood of 60k per year as you said. The tuition for the Alpert Medical School is close to 50k per year. This only includes tuition and fees but not room and board. So you can imagine medical school costs upward of 60k if you add in everything from tuition to room/board for Alpert Medical School. This information is straight from Alpert’s website. The costs for the program are no different than the costs of each individual part of the program (UG and MD).

As matrixsurgeon said, tuition is not different for PLME students. For the first 4 years, tuition is the same as Brown undergrad tuition, and financial aid works the same way. For the next 4 years, tuition is the same as other med students.

Does anyone know what date decisions will be released for RD PLME Applicants?

Same as for other RD students. I’m not sure what the exact date is, but it’s at the end of March usually.

Lets bring this thread back up as decisions are coming up soon and we will probably hear about PLME the same day as we hear about Brown.

Yes, PLME decisions are found in the place as Brown decisions.

Ah PLME is the dream I can’t stop imagining how amazing it would be to spend the next four years just being excited to learn instead of stressing about getting into medical school

So PLME applications went up by 22% this year from 2259 applicants to 2915. If they accept the same number as last year, we’re looking at about a 4% acceptance rate.

Fudge nuggets. 4% is way too low…

Does anyone know if they release how many PLME applicants were accepted ED? The 115 approximation is ED and RD so 4% might actually be a bit high…

Here’s the admissions facts page if you’re interested.

They accepted 15 early decision last year. Personally, I would be more than happy to get into Brown let alone PLME.

Rejected.

How do you access the plme decision

It’s in the same letter as your Brown undergraduate decision if you got in
