Brown Class of 2018 Regular Decision Applicants

Is applying now going to be too late for an alumni interview?

"Is applying now going to be too late for an alumni interview? " Hunh? You know the deadline for apps hasn’t even passed right? Therefore 98% of assignments won’t even take place until late January.

But you should know (and can’t be repeated often enough), not everyone gets an interview due to their randomly assigned nature. If you do or don’t get one, it’s not an indicator of your likelihood of eventual admission.

I applied around that same time but am really worried since I’ve not gotten any email back. I think I have checked my Junk and Trash files like 10 times now.

Have you checked via the common app to be sure everything is received?

Yes plus i got an email from the common app 20 days ago saying it was sent.

@everyone hey guys!! i am applying brown regular!! im a PLME and super excited at both BRown and BROWN PLME…getting into either would be a dream come through… lets keep a running tally of whos on the thread so we know who from CC is applying to brown:

i’ll start:

Class of 2018 RD Applicants:
matrixsurgeon

just copy and paste and add your usernames

Does anyone know if there is a separate/later deadline for teacher recommendation letters?

@collegecrazy
no for Brown, the posted deadline is what is for ALL the materials. That being said, I doubt a few extra days or so would be a problem cause Brown knows that its not exacty in your hand

@Egelloc80: different geographic regions are controlled by different alumni groups, and yours may be a little slower on the ball in terms of getting interviews set up. No reason to worry.

^ Thank you. Deep down I know that, but it seems that this application season has been one full of having to double check things a lot because of many things being over looked. Just a little over cautious but thank you again.

Do D had her alumni interview yesterday, at the man’s house (graduated '65!)
Said it went ok, but he talked a lot, explaining his questions to the point that she found it confusing! He also dissed Yale as “not beautiful” and “unsafe,” lol.
In the end he said to tell her parents they “did a great job,” so I guess it went well!

just finishing my ‘Why Brown?’ writing section. Reading through all the posts I feel like I am super later!

I sent my application a week ago, but haven’t received any confirmation email…? What do I do?

It’s the Saturday before Christmas. I highly doubt anyone is chained inside the admissions offices. If you don’t hear confirmation by LATE FEBRUARY, then inquire.

One week is nothing

wimmiett don’t stress. My daughter was accepted ED this fall despite never receiving an email confirmation and never receiving the email with the account login info; she had to call Brown computing services (or something like that) to get her login info. She did however have all the green checks on the common application - indicating everything had been sent to Brown.

Hey guys! I’m applying RD as well. Like most people, probably not going to get in, but I just want to get my results already!

Having the hardest time with the Why Brown essay D: it’s so hard to not sound generic

Hey Roxy, have you visited Brown? If so, mention specifics from your tour. And I also wouldn’t focus too much on the Open Curriculum… I think everyone does that. I could be wrong.

@lee
I have visited! Only there for like an hour though hah
But exactly I feel like everyone talks about the open curriculum…

Does everyone get an alumni interview, do you have to request one?
