Thanks @ffina23 , it turns out mine just went into my spam folder, and its been there for 3 weeks now!
@Taurus98 hahaha that must have been a relief to find
Anyone have a not-so-receptive interviewer? Got an email this past Monday and responded a few hours thereafter. Still haven’t heard back; we were planning to meet sometime this weekend. Good idea to send a reminder?
@ffina23 Yes, I e-mailed admissions during October and inquired about it. They said it’s O.K. as long as you list Brown under an institution that will receive the score report as soon as it’s available (a.k.a. the free-score report), on the down-side of not being able to view your score before sending it out.
I submitted an arts supplement via slideroom to Brown. Do any of you guys know if there’s any confirmation from the University itself that it has been received (like is it supposed to show up on your Brown Account application summary)? On slideroom, I only realized after I submitted that I had put my first name and last name in the first name box and last name in the last name box so my name on my application is “firstname lastname lastname”. I am worried that this may have affected in some way the attachment of my supplement to my application. Thanks.
@applicant2020 I haven’t heard anything from Brown, but I got a confirmation email from Slideroom, and when I log into the Brown Slideroom site through the Common App my submission shows up under the “completed” tab. Nothing in my portal account says anything about having completed the arts supplement. I wouldn’t be too worried, but you could still email your regional rep if you think there’s a problem. I think that since Slideroom is linked to your Common App it shouldn’t be a problem.
If I still have not been contacted for an interview, should I call the admissions office?
apex: Yes. Deadline for reports is Dec. 7.
Do you think that will affect when decision results come out? @fireandrain
has not received portal info? after submitting my app i got an email that said I’d get the login info within the next two weeks but i didn’t. Emailed admissions and they said they’d send it in the next few weeks. That was like 2+ weeks ago and I still haven’t gotten it. Is this normal? I need to portal to know what stuff they have/havent received from me.
Also, should first quarter grades be sent? I didn’t get anything from Brown saying they should be but I’ve heard people from other schools did.
wifigirl: My guess is that everyone here thinking that results will come out on Dec. 10 will be disappointed. That’s a guess; I have absolutely no inside knowledge.
Hey guys! I’m interest in getting some of your opinions of my situation as an applicant. My primary concern is my
SAT score, which is my one weakness (I cannot do standardized tests to save my life). I scored a 2160 (750 CR, 680 M, 730 W)…I am awful at math. On my subject tests, I scored a 700 on Spanish and 740 on US History. My GPA is a weighted 4.41 and I’m an AP Scholar with Honor. I’m looking to concentrate in Political Science at Brown, but I’m very dedicated to the arts as well. I submitted an arts supplement, and I also was the only boy enrolled in AP Studio Art last year. In terms of extracurriculars, I’ve been on the tennis team every year, I draw and write for the school newspaper, and I was also president of the Rotary Interact Club my junior year, in addition to other clubs (Political Action, etc.). This past summer, I helped to restore a mural in Manhattan and this fall, I’ve assisted in teaching a younger children’s art class on Fridays. My Common App essay was very personal; I wrote about my struggle with OCD and how I’ve overcome and coped with many of my compulsions. I was wondering what you guys think about my chances. Do you think they will dismiss me because of my SAT scores? Thanks!
Gdawg30 – I just want you to please put your SAT scores into perspective. You do not have a weakness taking standardized tests. Your scores are amazingly good – only a tiny percentage of people score higher than you. To get a 750 CR score and say that “I cannot do standardized tests to save my life” is really hurtful to the vast majority of students who score significantly lower than you. Even a 680 math score does not suggest that you are “awful at math.” An awful math score is more like a 480.
I have no idea if you will get in, but I promise you, you will not be rejected solely because of your excellent SAT scores.
Fireandrain–I appreciate the response, and I do realize that I exaggerate. However, you have to realize that the “vast majority” aren’t applying to Brown. And certainly, the students accepted to the school are part of the “tiny percent” you had mentioned. It’s hard not to question my credentials when seemingly everyone accepted on these threads has a 2250+. Actually, my guidance counselor had contacted a Brown admissions officer in a previous year to ask why one of her students was rejected, and the officer responded bluntly that the student had a 680 instead of a 700 on one of the sections. I was really disheartened to hear of this, because I really used to believe Brown evaluated us holistically. But it isn’t the case; Brown is a business at the end of the day.
You do realize that CC is a cult for overachieving ivy obsessed students that in no way reflects the average student population right? The reason that you wouldn’t get into Brown would not be because of your test scores, but probably because you’re viewing admissions from an ivory tower. @Gdawg30
I’m not quite sure what you mean. @wifigirl
hi everyone! just decided to join in on the discussion…only a few weeks left
If you’d like to share, how did everyone’s interviews go?
@wifigirl yes, CC has an abundance of high achieving students. But have you seen Brown’s average scores? It’s not like they’re lower than the high scores seen here.
My sentiments exactly. @collegebobollege
