@ecomberg Yes , if you have double-checked your spam mail and the email with portal login info is not there, you should definitely call.
hey guys! did anyone apply as a visual arts concentrator?
@fairbear I applied as an English/Visual Arts major (and also to the RISD dual degree program)!
I had my interview on Thanksgiving and it was actually a ton of fun… we went to starbucks, had PSLs and had a great talk. I really don’t expect to get it, because I think the fact of the matter is that no matter how holistic an application process is, GPA/SATs are the big factors.
PS. If I hear one more kid with a 2150 saying “my SATs are shit” im gunna have a freak out, cuz you are within the accepted range, so please keep your pants on, drama queens (also you just want people to say “don’t say that you’re smarter than jesus”)
PPS. The decisions will come when they come, but it certainly will be later that Dec. 10th, no later than Dec. 15th.
Good luck to all but secretly good luck to myself… hehe
Best Wishes,
A Prospective History Major
@actssmart your interview sounds like it was very casual and comfortable! so jealous… mine was so regimented. the downside of living near a large city i guess. we had to go to a private school in the city, pick from specific times on a specific date, and wait in a silent, almost funereal waiting room with other students until our name was called by one of the many alumns that volunteered to interview. my interviewer even set a timer (15 minutes!!) to ensure we didnt go over time…(even though we ended up interviewing for double that time lol oops sorry not sorry )
it went really well though – i just wish i had more time.
@fairbear @artblogger didn’t apply as a visual arts concentrator but I also applied for the risd dual degree program
trying really hard not to get my hopes up though … :-S
@fireandrain I’m just wondering: why do you think people are incorrect in assuming that the early decisions will be released on December 10? I know you said it’s your guess and you have no inside information, but I would really appreciate hearing your reasoning anyway. I was seriously counting on it being that date; the suspense is horrible. If you don’t believe decisions will be released on December 10, do you personally believe they’ll come out sooner or later than that?
Thanks!
by the way guys i oughta clarify im a prospective Classical Studies major, but Im so used to saying history because my relatives are always like “wtf is that” lol
@fireandrain I am curious if every ED applicant gets asked to submit quarter grades. I was asked, and my quarter grades are good. But does everyone get asked?
@Chubscout when did you get asked? I didn’t receive any email, but my counselor submitted the first trimester report last week.
@Chubscout No, not everyone gets asked (don’t know why). I for one have not received any request to send first quarter grades so far.
I didn’t get asked to submit my quarter grades either.
I’m doing my interview in 4 days! Any tips from people who’ve already had successful ones?
@Hope4567 because interview write ups are due on Dec. 7. Taking admissions at their word, that they value these, it’s hard to imagine they can read all the reports that come in on Dec. 7 for a Dec. 10 decision date. Also, based on past history, Dec. 10 is really early.
The university says mid December or Dec. 15. I suggest you all psychologically prepare yourself for Dec. 15 and if it’s earlier you can be pleasantly surprised. I know waiting is tough, but thousands and thousands of students have survived this waiting in the past, and the vast majority of you aren’t going to know anything until March 30.
If they ask for first quarter grades, would they email me or my counselor? Normally, my counselor says our school doesn’t send them unless the student has done remarkably well. She hasn’t told me they requested anything, so I’m hoping that they didn’t! Also, do we think they’ll announce the decision date today? I believe the announced it on December 2nd last year.
I wasn’t emailed for grades, i sent them a little less than a week ago… tbh, id agree with @fireandrain as it seems ridiculous that they can review all of these new transcripts. but im an idealist, and hopefully either way i can get in! Fingers crossed
@artblogger when my daughter applied ED, it was the counselor whom they emailed for the first quarter grades, sometime at the end of November.
http://admissiondecision.brown.edu according to this link, ED decisions come out in “early December.”
Is it possible that the December 7th deadline for interview reports just means that they won’t weight interviews as much? If they want to make an earlier decision deadline?
I was just contacted yesterday for my interview! I never thought it would come and it finally happened.
