**Brown Class of 2020 RD applicant thread**

My son applied RD and has not heard back about an interview either. He has had interviews with other schools. I wonder if there are not a lot of alums in our area. He is feeling down about it. He says that if it the interview doesn’t matter, he won’t worry about it. Should I encourage him to contact admissions?

Yes, tell him to call admissions. It can only help him.

Thanks for the information. I will ask him to call. We are 4 hours behind the east coast, so he will have to do it before school. By the time he gets off school at 2 pm our time, it will be 6 pm on the east coast.

Had my Brown interview last week, and it was the first one where I felt that the interviewer was really combative. She became nicer toward the end, but the first 20 minutes or so really scared me haha

My son just got an e-mail today for his Brown interview. The interviewer wants to meet him after school one day this week. So you were definitely right that sometimes it just takes a little longer to hear about it.

My interview was quite enjoyable; the guy even offered me water for my trip home! :smiley:

I had an other recommender who happened to be a Brown alum. He received a letter from a Brown admissions person in the mail today basically thanking him for his “substantive recommendation” as a “individual whose knowledge of the Brown experience lends added weight to the endorsement.” Though I’d like to think this means something good, I have a strong feeling it’s just a formality. Anyone hear of anything similar from Brown?

I had a rec from an alum as well, and he received the same thing.

Yup, that’s a formality.

I have a Skype interview later today, and my interview said they last approximately 20 mins. Does anyone know what the interview will consist of in that short 20 mins?

I have my interview later today! I am excited - I have already had a few others so I am not too nervous.

@McKilla99 It’s just something you have to print your name and sign (and your spouse if you have one).

@Hopeful42020 m8, I’m 16 years old :’) Spouse lol

@McKilla99 lol you never know

Just wondering- for a white female from South Carolina am I completely out of the question with a 2200 SAT/32 ACT/4.89 GPA? I truly believe my common app essay was exceptional, but my others essays were all solid but not amazing. do i hold a chance at all or will i be rejected bc test scores?

@violintigress <-- awesome username btw. No, your test scores are fine. While they aren’t enough to impress on their own, they aren’t a liability. 2200 shows your smart enough, and officers won’t look at them twice.

@violintigress Never say never; your SAT isn’t outstanding, but Brown accepts people—including white females—with lower scores. It’s still statistically unlikely, but all of us face long odds.

In short, you have a chance, especially with that 4.89 GPA.

Good luck!

@McKilla99 thanks :slight_smile: and okay, cool.

Does anyone happen to know when the alumni interview write ups are due this year? I’ve read it was 2/15 in past years & we are getting a little antsy since that’s tomorrow.

My son still hasn’t been able to get a meeting scheduled with the alumni that has been assigned. It’s been taking 3-7d to get email responses and no phone number has been provided for contact. If he’d not been offered an interview, there’d be less worry than having been offered one but not being able (yet) to actually interview because of slow response time.

The write ups are due on Feb. 15, but there is some flexibility.

Your son should call admissions and explain the situation.
