Brown Class of 2022 Applicants Discussion

@PengsPhils seems cool, if I make it into Brown, I hope to combine the CS and the neuroscience program to perhaps lead a road to artificial intelligence and the relevant area of study

Do all Ivies release their D at the same time?

@chch Not this year.

@QueenOfBohemia Which ivies release their decisions at a different time?

@BrKmNk That sounds super interesting!!

@QueenOfBohemia Wait so they don’t all release at 7 pm ET?

No i think they all do it at the same time.

Guys, should I go to practice (6-8pm) or just go home, get some work done and wait for 7pm to come?!?!!!? Because if I go to practice, I will be settle around 8:30-9.

So we do have a general consensus that the upload supplementary materials box theory is pure speculation with no basis, correct? Nobody does not have the box?

all at 7pm ET

@hopefull7890 go home and take a nap because if I were you, I’d be dying to know my decision if I was at practice.

@blossom4penn My mistake. For some reason I thought Cornell would release their decisions on Friday.

i think we all have the upload box

wait why did i never get an email to set up a portal

Last hours of daydreaming about Brown

Trying to add some positive vibes here to drown out the trolls who ARE NOT HELPING at this time of tremendous stress. Best wishes to all of you–you are all amazing kids who will do amazing things at whichever school is lucky enough to have you. I started reading these threads when my D was applying or planning to apply to several of the same schools mentioned by you guys. She was fortunate enough to be an ED I admit (not Brown), so we are not even waiting for any results, but I find myself nervous for all of you! I’ve seem some of you that were devastated by ED deferrals pick yourselves up, dust yourselves off, and start working on Plan B, and then Plan C. You are smart, talented, and tenacious, and those qualities make you winners, no matter what any school says. Everybody deals with anxiety differently, and regardless of whether or not the financial aid documents mean anything, if the discussion is helping some of you pass the time, deal with the stress, etc. then you should be allowed to do that here. I have my fingers crossed for all of you.

Passing the time positively - another story of The Journey

My brother didn’t get into an ‘ivy’
 but got an amazing education as an undergrad at Oberlin in Ohio. He then was admitted into an Ivy grad school with full fellowship in biochemistry. During his first year he decided his music was more important and quit to become a full time classical musician and study in Europe. Parents were not so thrilled as you might imagine. He was successful as a professional orchestra member for about five years before deciding he’d had enough of that world and
 going back to grad school in chemistry! He got his PhD at a different Ivy and then started his career in biotech. Several companyies later he his is considered a highly successful exec in drug discovery. Short story: the journey will be longer and much more interesting than whatever happens in a few hours.

In 2 hours, someone will be asking about ADOCH. Here is the information – http://www.browndailyherald.com/2017/11/28/university-expands-adoch-include-early-decision-admits/

Some people think inviting ED students to ADOCH is a waste of Univ. funds ( http://www.browndailyherald.com/2017/11/29/editorial-inviting-ed-students-adoch-waste-u-funds/). I asked my child’s opinion. My child said “they want to make friends too”. So my vote is “YES”. The sad meme theme linked from the third paragraph of the article won’t happen again.

This morning’s WSJ article “The Decision That Hurts Your Chances of Getting Into Harvard” (https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-decision-that-hurts-your-chances-of-getting-into-harvard-1522229400) already has 253 comments.

Good luck everyone! I got in ED and I hope the best for all of you!!! GO BROWN

One thought – let’s not all check them in alphabetic order. If we do we might crash the system? What do you think?
