Brown Class of 2022 Applicants Discussion

It seems like everyone has gotten the financial aid email, so it probably doesn’t indicate anything.

I didn’t get a financial aid e-mail, but I also didn’t apply for financial aid.

Does anyone else find it unusual that the Facebook account was created the same day that the financial aid emails were sent out? Maybe they only sent them out to the applicants who got in…

Sorry, I meant to say everyone who applied for financial aid

@GDubs1 that’s what I thought!

@GDubs1 It’s possible that you got your financial aid email on the same day as the creation of the Facebook group, but not everyone did. It appeared to be sent on a rolling basis, as some people (like me) got theirs on Thursday.

I would not make any assumptions about it being an indication of admission. First, it looks like all the active FA applicants on this forum got an email, and I hate to say this, but it’s extremely unlikely that we all got in. Second, making this assumption will only make a rejection hurt that much more come Thursday.

Stay positive, everyone!! Try not to read too much into possible indications, I’ve read through old forums and people always end up reading too much into them. Don’t worry too much, and find some good distractions (watch The Office, listen to some new Spotify tracks) because we just have a few more days to wait!

Anyone have any info on how many people applied this year? Because 775 accepted students is significantly higher than last year and the years before, which hovered around 670ish.

Hopefully only a few days left to wait.

Guys, the financial aid email means nothing. I personally know two people who were rejected last year but still received the email.

And like @jrdsnw said, it is extremely unlikely we all got in. Realistically, there are going to be lots of broken hearts on this thread on Thursday. Please don’t read into any possible indications, as it makes a potential rejection hurt that much more.

But, good luck to you all!

@sciencenerd123 I don’t think that info becomes public until after the admissions process for 2018 is completely over (April, unless we include transfers, which would then make it June I think)

@DaveNBuster do the admissions officers check the websites on campus though? I don’t think it’s a for sure rejection , not sure how admissions work but I feel like it’s not conclusive

I am not sure if the Facebook page is indicative of when results are coming out. The Facebook page states that the results will come out on the 14th, and it was created on Wednesday, which is the same day that the Instagram post (also stating that results would come out on the 14th) was deleted. It could just be that they forgot to update the Facebook page.

OMG I was so excited to see that facebook group description. This year they admitted so many more people!

@raffie Well, UChicago and some local schools checked it out. And, I do believe they check on campus because the admissions counselors make decisions together and most of them live in or near Providence.

Unfortunately, it most likely indicates a rejection.

I got one too

@DaveNBuster It could very well indicate a deferral, which is nothing to be unhappy about.

@juju612 Wow they deleted the post only last Wednesday? Seems like a lifetime ago lol. And no, not necessarily. I still think it’s on Wednesday. Not sure why they deleted the post though.

@jrdsnw True. It’s just that Brown was my dream school so it stings a bit. But it’s nice knowing a little earlier – gives me some time to work on my RD applications.

But, since Brown is holistic, shouldn’t they have checked out the website regardless of any “disqualifying” factors on my application? Not sure.

I find it strange that they didn’t look at it.
