I never expected to get into Swarthmore or Amherst, so maybe I’ll be lucky enough to get into Brown? I hope so. That would be really cool.
@yellowgreenred YOU HAVE A CHANCE! I received a likely letter and got a 1380 (and I’m not an athlete). Holistic admissions is real
Did you receive the letter in the mail today?
@socialscigeeek What part of the country do you live in?
@nrtlax33 To my knowledge, Brown has never had an MSTP. I was referring to its non-MSTP combined MD/PhD program. While I am at an MSTP and applied to mostly MSTPs, I had a few non-MSTP MD/PhDs on my list as “safeties,” and I think it’s telling that Brown wasn’t one of the 23 schools I applied to.
@iwannabe_Brown
What’s the difference between a MSTP and a non-MSTP M.D.-Ph.D program?
I found the definition(s). Is is just a matter of how the program is funded or is there academic differences?
@AverageTeen2000 How do you know your Brown ID?
yes
@wrenwu You might have received a email titled “Brown University Account Activation” a while ago. That should have your Brown ID.
@Lemonade22 What does it show you?
Hey @AverageTeen2000
I attended summer at brown one summer so I think my login was the same. Dont worry dude if you can’t login, but can other summer at brown people chime in?
Don’t mean to stoke anxiety in anyone, but I got a likely letter from Brown today dated March 15th!
@DLithium Congratulations! Did you not get the email first? And where do you live?
Why would u think anyone would experience anxiety? We r happy for u! You got a likely a few days before decision day. Awesome! Congrats and best to u! Whats for u is for u! What’s for us, is for us! Enjoy!
We never rec’d a brown ID… only access to portal by clicking through and using email… did we miss something?
Thanks guys! I didn’t get an email and I live in south eastern US
Best luck to you for getting into your dream school
@volunteerism at this point it’s a little chicken and egg but the funding differences come from the quality. The government is not going to spend a million dollars each to train scientists at anything other than the best institutions (best not only in terms of the science but also graduate student development, clinical medicine, and development of physician-scientists specifically). The MSTPs are all considered to be stronger programs.
Thanks!
@mhop72 you used to be able to see the ID in the portal. I can’t remember if it was on the main page or in the Financial Aid section. Everything is a bit out of whack now as they have the portal down before decision day.
