Brown Class of 2022 Applicants Discussion

JROTC lol

I feel much better now, just accepted to Vanderbilt, and they DIDN’T take any idoc docs and still gave me a financial aid package. So not every financial aid office even needs those to make the package.

I see some of you are admitted to JHU. It doosn’t hurt to read this old article http://www.jhunewsletter.com/article/2010/11/low-average-gpa-at-hopkins-suggests-grade-deflation-89024/ (see GPA comparison). As far as GPA is concerned, Brown is the opposite of JHU. There is no need to ask around whether JHU is safe or not. Just check http://security.jhu.edu/compliance-and-crime-statistics/index.html#crimelogs (select Homewood Campus (PDF)) and map each instance on a map. College Hill is VERY safe compared with JHU. Yes. I did check crime reports on College Hill.

Congratulations,@applicant1313!

Congrats, that’s awesome!!! @applicant1313

I wrote my community essay about Girls State.

Same boat.

Same boat here. We did receive one acceptance with missing FA docs, though, so it may not be as big a sign problem as it appears. That said, it worries me.

My daughter got accepted to a school with ONLY FAFSA and missing CSS, it was simply requested with acceptance

letter. So who knows.

Hello everyone! I know that tomorrow is the release date. Is 7 pm ET a confirmed time? I also applied to Yale, Stanford (I know, not an ivy), and Harvard and am thinking they will all be around the same time.

@katey27 I believe it is actually 5 pm EST! It would be consistent with ED as well as the release time last year.

@katey27 I got an email from Brown and UPenn saying that decisions will be released at 7 pm EST

@mhop72 Most public universities only require FAFSA. Elite privates generally require FAFSA, CSS Profile and IDOC.

When folks log into the class listing section (where you can browse classes) What class does it show you? There are two sections. The first main one, says “have you considered” and lists some classes, then when you click through “see all” a new tab opens and in the upper right of that, there is a place to click off schedules and that area shows entirely different classes. I wonder if it is the same for everyone. Just trying to waste the time.

just got waitlisted to vandy but my brown application was significantly stronger (revamped common app essay, put more effort into supplements, overall better self-presentation). I have just a tad more optimism now than I did about an hour ago so maybe the next 24 hours won’t be as stressful as the past week has been lol

I chose the community of military families for my influential community essay. cliche, maybe, but I like to think my approach was unique

@katey27 Yeah, all the emails said 7 EST, and as for Stanford, that should be Friday March 30th 4 PST

Looks like we have a party here. 23 hours to go. 70% confidence on both tomorrow.

Lol, idk how I feel about seeing justin bieber’s face in this thread

When the ivies are the last of your decisions and you’ve been wait listed and rejected at all your other top choices
oh boy
admissions is so weird. I’ve been flat out rejected by schools with 15%-17% acceptance rates and wailisted at schools with rates less than half of those numbers
soooo weird. I knew that going in, but decisions never cease to amaze me:)

Good luck to everyone!

DD also wait listed at Vandy.

@Ashtash I hear you. This has been a whirlwind. Waitlisted from 2 safeties. Rejected from 1 favorite. 3 favorites to go. I’m not all that psyched about my options right now, so it’s all coming down to the next 2 days
