Currently have not gotten my teacher recommendations yet. (I'm still a junior.)
Completely clean disciplinary record-as expected.

I will most likely utilize the ED program at Brown.

Bump. Chance me please

Easily at UMich. Ivy’s certainly a competitive application

Bump. Leave a chance please

Don’t rely much on practice tests.

the ACT is a real test score. I am very confident in my SAT abilities, and all of my other sources tell me that the practice scores from certified agencies will reflect my real score. Disregarding above post ^

^Arrogance and lack of tact ls unattractive component of any application to any school. Disregarding above post^

I was never arrogant. I only stated that I was confident. Never did I make any claims expressing that I was better than anyone else. In addition, if you read what the harisheena has been saying on everyone else’s chance threads, you would understand my lack of patience with such people who only post discouraging comments, lacking any real substance or constructive criticism.

Your comment is pretty abrasive. If you want to get down to low blows, let’s see your application or qualifications. I’m calling ■■■■■ on this one.

^Instead of simply ignoring a post (by someone taking time in an attempt to assist you) that you perhaps feel does not apply to you, you instead feel compelled to respond that you are better qualified to know then they are and make it publicly known that you will “disregard their post”. And you do not believe this is arrogant or lacking in the social graces?

Then your response to my attempt at humor in pointing out your behavior is to challenge me to whip out my stats? “Lets see your application or qualifications?” . I am halfway convinced that you are pulling my leg, because its almost too sad to think that you are for real?

What I’m pointing out is, it’s much easier to hide behind your computer monitor screen and criticize people who’ve opened up to this community and asked for realistic opinions without opening yourself up for criticism. The fact that you posted to point out my rash statement, by the way to a 17 year old who is anxious about college, shows your lack of integrity and character. Then you mock me with my own statement.

Are you so narcissistic and egocentric that you can have the audacity to call me tactless when you go about posting these things? You are pathetic.

As an impartial third party, I can safely say “WhatsCollege8” that your behavior is out of line. I don’t want to take the time to describe why, I can just feel unnecessary aggressiveness and a pompous air about you through your words. “hinsdale1,” you are partially to blame for carrying on this internet battle that has no meaning at all x)

WhatsCollege - I understand your point of view, but you should realize that this is a chance forum. I am not posting discouraging comments, but realistic thoughts. I can’t go around every thread and say “WOW”. I don’t have any intentions to give false hopes for Ivy Leagues (which are crapshoot anyways). I just wanted you to get realistic comments.

Also, if you make an effort to read some of my earlier posts on this chance forum, I have even posted encouraging comments where necessary/ where the student was accomplished enough for Ivies. No offense.

I found it funny that the kid asked the other one to “see your application” like the first one insulted his application or something.

ignoring above discussion and remaining neutral

:p

I think you have a good shot at those schools, especially Ann Arbor. You have the necessary ACT score…you don’t even REALLY have to worry about the SAT’s, you could just take the subject tests and be good to go. But anyways, your EC’s are slightly generic, and I think there might be a better way to write them to make them sound more interesting :)

But what do I know? Good luck!

statlanta, the majority of people here are “kids.” I never asked to see his application. I was merely pointing out that he was criticizing me without offering up his own end. If you found that amusing, I am happy that you have fun ■■■■■■■■ college hopefuls.

Harisheena, if you are sincere about offering constructive advice, what am I to make of this?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1112339-yale-upen-nyu-etc.html

Racially profiling? Asking an unnecessary question? Perhaps this was your ignorant stab at humor, but it did offend me. Why? Because Asians are obviously a minority in the United States, and we are also the only minority to be discriminated against in for college admissions, in many cases even beyond the considerations made toward Caucasian applicants. The University of Michigan and Columbia in particular are up to 61% more likely to accept hispanic and black applicants in comparison to Asiatic males. So yeah, good for you. Poke fun at a minority because we have to go the extra mile.

By the way, the source for the 61% statistic is based on the NCES government sponsored study.

And hinsdale, i stand by my previous statements. You’re a self-absorbed punk completely unrelenting in your narcissistic attitude. I too did find something amusing about our banter: the irony in your blatant hypocrisy.

So you found those offensive?

You need to calm down and relax.

That’s all. You are freaking out with this college process.

^Your statement.

^Your post just prior. Conclusion: [Fail].

You may want to take some of the advice offered to you and tone down your arrogant attitude and improve your critical thinking. I think you were called out correctly, and instead of getting irrational, may want to take the advice to heart if want a shot at any of the elite schools.

I hope an a**hole like you doesn’t go to Michigan…

Wow, you both sound like a bunch of ****ing pubescent girls.

Lol, this thread has digressed completely from chancing. More like a thread to practice argumentative skills and building up vocabulary. In an attempt to trace the argument to the root, practice tests should be used as a guide and a tool to build up confidence but never an exact substitute for the real SAT. There are many factors involved other than intellect on that day - including your ability to handle stress and so on. I am not siding with anyone here but just fyi I am an Asian International Student (Male) who is not Korean but is a great fan of SNSD and Korean drama.
WhatsCollege, yes, Asian males are probably at a disadvantaged position but there’s no way to change your race or gender. So all the best in your tertiary education and remember that the harder the battle the more glorious the victory. And judging from your use of your advanced lexicon, I can say that you should be able to excel in SAT Verbal.
