I'd like to attend Brown more than any other college I'm applying to. My whole personal statement is based off of my involvement in the community and how I've worked to improve elementary schools in my town. The elementary education project I have undertaken is a great achievement and everyone thinks it will definitely help me because it shows that I'm an altruistic, truly caring person as well as a go-getter and progenitor. My guidance counselor told me I have the grades and SAT scores to possibly be accepted and my resume really speaks for itself. I'm also ranked among the top in my grade. Would I benefit from applying early or should I opt to apply regular? I'm not sure if I would be accepted early, since competition is so tough.

Do you need financial aid? If you do, and need to compare packages, then you should probably apply regular decision.

If financial aid is not a factor, if your application will not get stronger if you wait (by which I mean, your senior grades will be high enough to improve your GPA/rank or your SAT scores will be higher) and if Brown is your clear first choice, then you should apply early decision.

I think that’s your answer. If finances aren’t an issue, and Brown is indeed the school for you, then apply ED. Waiting for the RD won’t help you, and may even hinder your chances unless your application will be stronger in the RD round as fireandrain mentioned.

I am not applying for financial aid.

I also did very poorly on my SAT 2s (640s) so I feel that that may hinder my chances. Although, I am not planning on retaking them.

In that case, you should apply early. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t.
