Hey, so I received an invitation for a Brown interview a few weeks ago, and we set up a time and location all very smoothly, but my interviewer had a personal emergency and cancelled the night before. He said he’d contact me again but it’s been over a week now.
I have some doubts that he is a real interviewer…? All my other interviewers contacted me with professional e-mail addresses, their alumni email addresses, but this person contacted me simply through gmail and there was no real identification that he was actually part of Brown.
Did other people have interviewers who simply used a non-alumni email address?
Many people don’t use their Brown alumni email address, especially if they graduated a while ago. There is no requirement for interviewers to use them.
Email him again and ask about rescheduling that interview.
I have always used my personal gmail account to contact students. I have never used my work accounts, because they are for work purposes, and I never use my alumni email account for anything.
Agreed that you need to email him again. If you don’t hear back within a few days, call Brown. It’s possible that the personal emergency was more significant and long-lasting than he thought it would be.
that would be very odd, that he would not be affiliated with brown.
he may just be a novice interviewer, or a casual one. if you are really concerned, contact admissions.
I have absolutely used my gmail address to contact students (although typically I actually call them). My alumni one forwards to my gmail but I’m not even sure how to send one from my alumni address.
