Now I feel bad about my interview. We had a great time talking, totally got what the other was saying, and at the end she said "I hope you get in." She did not, however, say anything about pulling any strings or emphasizing things or anything.

Hey sorry if this has been posted before but I have an interview coming up pretty soon...does anyone one know what kind of questions they ask. The alum that I talked to said it was mainly for me to ask questions...what kind of questions should I ask. I have no freakin clue.

amgolden: Aren't you curious about anything? What the dorms look like? How the dining halls work? Are students grade grubbing or really relaxed? How much time is spent studying? What do students do on Friday and Saturday nights? How do you write for the paper, or join an a cappella group, or play intramurals? What's the quirkiest or most crazy thing the alum ever did, or his/her best memory of college? There are literally dozens of questions to ask.

If you search this board, you will see many threads that detail what type of questions interviewers ask.

haha, Thank you so much! I really had a block. I hadn't really thought those kinds of questions. I was thinking more along the lines of straight edge questions and coulnd't really figure out the right ones to ask. But the dorms one I'm definitely going to ask...I really was wondering about that. Thanks again :)

yayyyy just got back from my interview. really good. the lady was upbeat and nice and actually a girl's mom from my school. just excited to be done.

yay! My interviewer called today while I was at school, grr! She talked to my mom who barely speaks english (lol), I'm glad my mom took down the number though. I hope she calls me because I just left her a message..can't wait! I'm so excited!

Hi, i'm an applicant from Singapore. Since the education system here is so different from the US, i think the interview is pretty important as our transcripts don't say much about our personality/character. I'm having my interview in 5 hours' time!!! I'm really scared >< and it doesn't help that the interview is in her office :O (in a fancy schmancy tower building)

For anyone who's had the interview already, what did you say to the "Why not the other Ivy Leagues?" question? Any suggestions would be greatly apprecieated. Thanks!

I'm having my interview this saturday. Really looking forward to it! I didn't actually request an interview, but I got an email from an alumnus telling me I had one, so I was wondering if anyone knows why exactly they have them if there isn't much emphasis put on them for the decision? What makes them choose to interview you rather than another applicant? What goes on in the interviews normally? Should I bring any work with me?Thanks!

she called me back later on yesterday and were meeting up Saturday after i get out of work, yay!
mknowlton27- im wondering the same thing!
i mean i did an interview for Barnard college but that was all womens, dont know what to expect at this one but i already have questions up my sleeves. its best to bring a notebook and pen. especially to informational interviews that way you would show interest. but also ask questions about things they might mention that you dont understand. most importantly ASK questions, not just things you can read on their website! read up on your major, ask about research that is done on your major or even comment that you would like to do research.

wow...i had a splendid interview !!!
Only half hour...but it was slick! I just started talking and by the time i knew time was up, i had already walked down my interviewer's memory lane and through Brown's philosophy and creative writing classes and got the feel of small debating/discussing groups @ Brown....
and my interviewer actually felt i was a damn good fit for Brown !! (is this something interviewer's normally say ?)

anyway, If anyone need any specific tips, please be free to pm!

my interview was pretty straightforward but the interviewer asked some questions that I don't think you're supposed to ask, like what my SAT scores were and what other schools I was applying to... not in a way that he was judging me or anything, just in a curious way. but I still felt awkward answering those questions.

ughh yeah my interviewer asked me what other schools i was applying to like it was no big deal. then she kinda compared them and said how brown was better. hmmm.
