yay! I just got mine, my interviewer was AWESOME. I don't know if she was supposed to say what she did but she was like "your a great fit for Brown, I'm going to do everything in my power because Brown definetly needs you" (I was sooo happy!) I think she noticed lol. Anyway, she even gave me her card and wants me to intern with her at the local hospital where she is an OBGYN; so excited! I can't wait! I hope everybody's interview turns out great! Good Luck!

I think my D had the same interviewer as superwoman, but D's was over the phone yesterday. Also went very well.

Wow, the fact that she's going to let you intern with her is fantastic! Congrats!

Notan4me- is she from the new england area, aka boston. If she is. There's a strong possibility we did ha the had same interviewer. I'm glad her interview was great! Good luck to your D!

Shrizto- yea, I definetly was suprised when she pulled out her business card and put her cell phone number on the back just in case I couldn't reach her at work..I'm so excited! Thankss!

Actually, superwoman, NYC area. But the interviewer was also an OBGYN! Small world!

Oo, cool! I guess it is a small world!

I live near Claremont, California, so my interviewer was a CMC Professor of Literature, Harvard Graduate, Brown Undergraduate. At first I was intimidated by his track record, but it turned out to be an amazing interview.

It's crazy how after each college interview/showcase/meeting etc. I fall in love with that specific school, yet obviously we are bound for only one college next year.

DO Brown INterviewers scale the people they interview from maybe 1-10 ?
(just saw another link which mentioned that some other unis do this~)

i don think so...im not sure though
the interview doesn't count for much anyways

i kinda hope they do bc my interview would definetly help me if it were beneficial! everything else on my app. is horrible, well test scores wise. other then that, my app would be great in regards to my interview lol! i wish everybody has a positive experience of the interview! : )

I'm a Brown interviewer, and no, we don't scale applicants from 1 to 10. We're given a few questions to answer.

The interview is read and appreciated by the admissions staff, but in my experience (30+ years) a good write-up has never been the deciding factor to admit a student with weak statistics.

LaVieEnChocolat: At this point, I'd have your daughter notify admissions that she has not yet been contacted for an interview. It has nothing to do with her viability as a candidate (i.e., it's not a "bad sign") -- in some areas Brown just doesn't have enough interviewers to go around. Or the person who received her name needs to be nudged. Our goal is to interview everyone, but realistically, that's not going to happen this year.

fireandrain- okay then, well im definetly rejected then : (
ill just wait for that nice rejection letter in April.

Superwoman, I said an interview wouldn't cause admissions to overlook weak statistics. Other factors do.

But say you are borderline. Would a good interview help in that case?

Catalysis: Doubtful -- I mean, I guess it's possible, but you have to understand that the majority of interviews are positive. I read a lot of them, and mostly the interviewers rave about the students. It is rare that something comes up in the interview that is at odds with the rest of the admission file. I read amazing interviews all the time where the students get denied -- which is to be expected when the acceptance rate is below 15 percent. A vibrant personality is not sufficient to get you accepted to Brown.

I assume that an interview may raise something that was not in the admissions folder that causes admissions to take a second look at your application.

I want to stress that the MOST important aspect of your admissions folder are your grades in high school. The SATs are important, too. What admissions feels is crucial is your ability to do the work in college. The reading load can be intense, very difficult, very dense. If they are concerned that you cannot keep up with the work (which, yes, can be reflected in a low CR score, for example --and by low, I don't want to put a number on it, but there is NOT a dramatic difference between a 750 and a 800, for example; look at the statistics to guestimate what low might be), then that is the reason they won't accept you. An interview can't overcome that concern.

okay then...im thinking i definetly shouldnt of applied..i really set myself up for rejection. well, theres always med school at Brown..: (

Good luck to everyone else applying!

Well, superwoman, they are called reaches for a reason. Some students get into their reaches, but the chances are low. If you get in, then the chance for you was 100%.

You're a URM, your grades and rank are good. Are you also the first in your family to go to college? That helps, too.

yea, im the first to go past the eleventh grade as well. that would probably help..true.

I still haven't been contacted for an interview :( And I highly doubt that I'm in an area with insufficient alumni. In fact, I think that a classmate of mine who applied to Brown was contacted via e-mail a few weeks ago (but she applied way earlier than I did, but not ED). I was just contacted for an interview today by another university. And there's one more that I still haven't heard from. I think I'll give them another week before I contact anyone.

BLINKANGEL: I heard the deadline 4 interviews is Feb 15. Contact them now.
