Hey guys… Im really interested in the Brown PLME program. So i recently got my SAT score back… obv Im gonna retake it…
Math: 800 (hip hip hooray!)
CR: 620 (ouch… retaking this for sure!)
Writing:730
Composite score: 2150
ONE BIG QUESTION THO… DOES PLME SUPERSCORE??
Also… I cant find anything about the avg. accepted students’ GPA… anyone can help me with that?

^ According to that, the PLME acceptance rate was about 3.5% last year. So, I would assume that the average accepted students’ GPA is quite high.
Brown does “superscore.” PLME is no different.
Brown only “superscores” the SAT. They don’t “superscore” the ACT. From Brown admissions: “Unfortunately, we do not superscore the ACT; we only superscore the SAT.”
let me tell you that it is EXTREMELY hard to get into brown PLME. that being said, in my opinion, there hospital and med school is not nearly developed as other school’s medical programs and you are essentially committed to medicine for eight years. just think about it.
I got into the PLME, you can look at my stats on the Class of 2019 ED Results page. Don’t let anyone discourage you if this is what you want. Also, Alpert Medical School is ranked very respectably and #32 in Research. The Residency matches are also top in the country. It is also the 5th hardest Med School to get into in the country with a 2.9% acceptance rate and lets not forget there is no MCAT requirement for PLME students. You are in no way locked in if you change your mind during the undergrad portion of the 8 year program. You can decide not to go to Med School or you can also opt out of Alpert, take the MCAT, and apply to any Medical School(s) that you want. The PLME’s benefits far outweigh any negatives. I am still pinching myself to make sure I am not dreaming. And, I am going to be a doctor! If this is what you want, go for it!
@lax1997 Congrats! Congrats! Wish I was you right now XD
@lax1997 I just read your stats and they are impressive… esp. those EC’s! IF it is possible, why did you decided to not report the AP scores? Is there an advantage in that? Also… I heard from my GC that Brown values music a lot esp. for the PLME… Does that mean me going to a top prestigious music school (Juilliard btw!) would help me get into PLME???
@cottonkk I didn’t think they could help my application since I didn’t have all 5’s. If anything I thought it could be neutral or maybe even negative. Also, none of the AP tests I have taken thus far can help me in any way with Brown (even with placement) so I just made a calculated decision not to submit them. I knew it was a risk either way so I can not recommend doing that to anyone. As far as music, I never took any formal school or classroom training (outside of private instruction), so I can’t speak to the impact of Julliard. In all honesty, I don’t think, in my case, that music had anything to do with my admission. It was one of the smallest parts of my application and was 10th on my activities list on the Common AP. That being said, Brown does say that they like the study of Art and/or Music, and I’m sure they would not say that for no reason. As far as Julliard that is an entirely different level of studying music so I don’t know what the impact of that would be. I just did what I loved and hoped it was what Brown was looking for. I never tried to make my application a certain way for any particular school. I just did what made me happy and what I enjoyed. I just knew in my heart I was meant to be at Brown when I was there on my visits, and I’m so grateful that they saw that I was a great fit for them. Best of luck in the process. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!
I am also an accepted Early Decision PLME student.
The point of PLME is to not be locked in. I am going to study history, I have a guaranteed stop in med school, and the opportunity to explore without worry. The PLME advisors, encourage you to look into other careers if you are doubting choosing medicine. The only downside for me when applying was being in the same place for 8 years. But even then Providence is fun, quirky, and Boston is close by.
I just say that PLME gives you more options than any undergrad education if you want to eventually be a physician.
And I’m on the Class of 2019 ED Results page.
