Brown Students: Are You In?

Any brown students out there in the RISD program? or were rejected? i know that RISD students get first pick and any left are open to brown (debating which school to go for…)

I don't get this question. You can only be enrolled in one college. I have a daughter who is a Brown student. However, she takes RISD courses. She has had NO problem taking the RISD courses and has gotten into the ones she selected. There is a limit to how many RISD courses you can take if a Brown student but that is not an issue for her.

If you are deciding whether to attend Brown or RISD, I think there is a huge difference between the schools...very different schools and degree requirements. If you attend either school, you can cross register classes but you need to select the school you wish to attend primarily and to get your degree/major from. It is not like you enroll in one or the other and take equal number of courses from each school. ONE school is going to be where you take the majority of your classes and the other is going to be where you take SOME classes. The primary school is where you satisfy the degree and major requirements.

Also, I'm not sure what you mean by "the RISD program." There's not a specific RISD program for Brown students. As soozievt says, Brown students can take classes at RISD, but cross-registration will only be for a few of your classes.

One exception to this is if you want to do Brown's "Study Away in the USA" program, where you do a semester at another American university. I've heard of Brown kids taking an entire semester at RISD this way, althought it's not common.

soozievt-- is vt for Vermont? PM me if you don't want to divulge your identity. lol.

Alright, that seemed weird, right? I was wondering if vt was for VT because I'm from VT and am going to Brown in the fall. I was looking for some perspective from somewhere a bit closer to home. Thanks.

Paperfish...indeed I do live in Vermont and my daughter just finished her soph year at Brown. She loves it, by the way. She happens to be on the road at the moment and is spending the night near Boston at a fellow student's house who is also from VT and she is going to Brown again tomorrow.

I'll try to PM you but much prefer email as my PM box fills up constantly.

I think you're gonna love Brown!
