Brown Students Please Post your stats

Thanks that would greatly help a prospetice stundent like me
!

No it wouldn't. Stats are not very indicative of much.

Let me put it this way-- we're all going to have done well on tests and have pretty good GPAs.

There, I saved you the time a trouble. Stats wise, many applicants look the same/similar -- 1400+ SATs, top 10-5% of their class, ECs that took time commitment and showed genuine interest in something, etc etc etc.

True. But Brown imo is wacky. What exactly do they look for?

Also how much does ED help?

Brown looks for students that will be successful here at Brown. Those traits can vary from reader to reader, but typically they involve having some level of proven academic success and the ability to be an independent thinker. Someone with drive and direction, even if that direction is simply to "learn" rather than a specific job set. Anyone who would thrive in the Brown atmosphere of collaboration, independence, and academic pursuit. Etc etc. Brown is looking to sum you up in some way based on your application, so present yourself to Brown in the most faithful way as possible.

They can't take everyone that they feel would work here, but they try to take what they identify as those best able to take advantage of what we have to offer. Be true to yourself, and if this is the right place for you, you've got a great shot.

ED helping or not is something that is up for debate. The bottomline is it never hurts to show a school that you feel you fit there so well, and are so sure that it's your goal to be a student there, that you're willing to not even apply elsewhere upon admission to Brown. That's definitely an indicator, at least in my mind, of being very serious about Brown.

That being said, I applied RD because I wanted to see what kind of scholarship money I was going to be offered elsewhere. I ended up coming here anyway. People get accepted RD to, it's not like if you dont ED you can't get in. I probably should I have ED because I knew all along this is where I wanted to go and almost no amount of money was going to stop me. I didn't, but I am glad the adcom still saw that I would make a great Brown student and offered me a spot in the Class of 2009.
