My daughter is applying to the engineering school. There is a general question (8b)- Why are you draw to the academic fields you indicated (she put down 1-Engineering, 2- Human Biology. Then there are 3 questions for applicants to the engineering school that are similar to 8b.-What factors led you to an interest in Engineering? How does she answer each question without sounding redundant?

She can find 6 reasons.

or

She can have more general answers for one question and more specific answers in the follow up question.

In general I think a good approach is to go about it a little differently. Ask yourself what you want the college to know about you and then figure out which questions to put those answers in.

As an example, my son tried to write his main essay about a particular activity and it didn’t work at all, but it made a great little essay about “What was your favorite EC and why.”

Thanks, great advise
