So i’m super super happy to be going to Brown next year, and I was wondering if anyone (cough modestmelody) could talk about some Brown traditions / fun stuff that you guys do so that the class of '13 can be even more excited?

I think the Van Wickle Gates is the nicest of the traditions. Center gates only open up in towards campus during Convocation, when the incoming class lines up down College St. and officially enters the university. The only open outward during Commencement when all of the graduating seniors leave Brown, entering the "real world".

Then there are things like, Naked Doughnut Run, SPG, SciLi Challenge, traysledding, hating on Grad Center...

Don't they set up a big bounce house fair for first years?

If they have the giant slip and slide be careful--my daughter managed to fall funny and get knocked out, a serious concussion that landed her in the hospital.

And one co-op she roomed at one summer has a naked party during the year. She didn't mention to me if she went or not.

Isn't there some tradition with rubbing the Bear (or some other statue) on the main green for good luck or something like that? Also, spring weekend is sort of a tradition too.
