I think this topic has been brought up a few times but I had a few questions regarding transferring to Brown that I’m still unclear about. Hopefully some of you Brown transfers can shed some light…

I’m a senior in high school but didn’t even think of applying to Brown til it was too late. I did try to fill out the app but I didn’t get it in in time, though my teachers and counselors got their parts in.

I guess my first question would be does Brown just trash the counselors and teacher recs that they recieve without a Form 1? I think I’m on their mailing list, so my name would be on file, but…I don’t know. Most people just told me they trash them, just wanted to make sure.(btw, I’m talking about transferring as a sophomore Fall 2007, or maybe during the Spring quarter 2007.)

Would it be wise to retake the SATs for higher scores if we’ve already taken them quite a few times? I actually took the old one twice and the new one twice. It gives me a headache just thinking about taking it again but i’d do it if it’d help…

As a sophomore transfer, how much would the college part of the application weigh if I have a great gpa if only from a semester’s worth of work? For example…if I graduate with, say, a 3.75 unweighted hs gpa and a 4.00 at a competitive public university (let’s say ucla or berkeley) after only a semester or two, how would it look? Does Brown weigh high school grades ?

I’ve heard that financial aid is actually taken into consideration when transfers apply to Brown. If I check “no” and I am accepted, does that make me ineligible for financial aid for the rest of my stay at Brown?

Is anybody here a transfer that can share their experience (from where they started to their experience at Brown now)?

I think that about covers it. It’s alot but I’d be grateful if anyone had any insight on this stuff. Thanks in advance!
