@semperfi, the same thing happened to me, see post #357
@jazzdancer2102 IDOC is a service used by universities for tax returns and other supporting documents for financial aid application. For example I sent my parents’ tax returns for the year 2014 and filled the business/farm supplement as requested by Harvard and Middlebury College.
Am I the only one here who’s applied for 0 aid? :o
I didn’t apply for aid. Brown is need aware for intl’s right?
Yes I think that is a good sign for Brown
Isn’t the FA dept. and admissions dept. separate for domestics? I don’t think it means much.
I tend to agree. I think we will not know definitively until March 31. Everything else is tea leaves.
I think speculation does more harm than help…
After the whole brown sync thing, I’ve decided just to wait for my decision and not buy into anything that isn’t certain.
Has anyone gotten a likely letter recently? like the past few days? i just got one from Cornell, so i’m wondering if Brown has some still floating around.
After getting waitlisted by WashU my confidence overall is kind of low. I had fun with Brown’s application though; for the groups/communities essay I wrote a bit of an acrostic poem about MUN and I think I got a lot more across than if I wrote a paragraph about it.
@collegeconfused6 did u show interest? I showed zero interest so I am kinda happy with the wait list considering I’m an international student.
@S0U10H03 To Brown, absolutely (in my eyes at least); I had a ton to say in my interview and also thought I had some nice supplements. To WashU, I’m not really sure how to demonstrate interest considering there’s no supplement and traveling there is a little bit of a hassle.
@collegeconfused6 For Brown, I would say I demonstrated my interest, I said how the open curriculum would help me get a “Liberal-Maths” education. I also talked about how I wanted to join a math club they have. My interview went REALLY well, she said that I was the best interview she had that day, and said that she wanted me to get in. She is a semi-famous person(not really, but some people may know her, I would think the adcoms definitely know her) so I hope it helps me out.
@collegeconfused6 I go to a feeder school to WashU, and we had someone last year at my school who was wait-listed at WashU but accepted into Stanford. WashU is completely dependent on interest, so I wouldn’t lose hope. Additionally, students of employees who have worked there for at least 7 years get free tuition. WashU really tends to cater to these faculty children since they know they’re more likely to go, as well as other people they believe would actually go there since WashU knows it is often seen as a safety for people applying to the Ivies. My dad actually works on a development committee at WashU, and I got a letter saying they would take our familial interest into account (super sketchy) and I was ultimately accepted.
I got waitlisted by UChicago and I feel just the same. If I couldn’t make it there, Brown is a never ever scene IMO. I’m just waiting for some weird divine forces to get me in if not anything. My standardized tests are meh for Brown, my essays, recs and a few awards might be the things that might save me and my “disadvantaged” background could push my app up a bit.
Regarding the interviews though @S0U10H03 I had a SMASHING one with a class of 2014 student but I’ve been told, and I’ve noticed that interviews are more about us wanting to know about Brown than them really scrutinizing us because it holds a less than 2% weightage on our application. I remember there were 3 alumni in my city, and the one who interviewed my friend had his first question not about why brown or what do you want to tell me, but “what do you want know about Brown” and it was done in 30-45 minutes while mine went for nearly 1 and a half hour. Its done for the yield rate I hear. I really wish it had more weightage though because that would definitely be one of the strongest points on my app because he mentioned how I have to be at Brown and tell everybody there to follow their dreams and not conform to pursuing the highest paying major because he saw I want to be up to something really unique with my education.
Has anyone recently received a likely?
Got a likely letter today in the mail, but it was dated March 16th. It also included this year’s acceptance stats: 1605 admitted out of over 30,000. That’s a maximum of a 5.3% acceptance rate compared to last year’s 8.6%.
^Good lord
The list of materials like transcripts and test scores is now gone from our application portal. Guess Brown has finalized its decision by now.
