Brown University for Mathematics?

Hey everyone. I was wondering what people know about Brown's mathematics department. I know everyone says that their applied mathematics department is one of the best, but how is their pure? I'm not looking for, "Well, it's not as good as MIT!" type of responses. More along the lines of, "It's still pretty good in pure math," or "I visited last summer and the department seemed really great because __________," or anything along those lines. I was accepted into their department (I'm looking to study something in the geometry/topology range), and I'm trying to weigh my options.

Brown has a phenomenal Math program... one of my good friends got his BA from Harvard and PhD from Brown, and is now a professor at a
top 5 Liberal Arts College... he loved Brown and thought it was a pretty outstanding program in Math.

I just looked up the rankings (which you should use ONLY ONLY ONLY as a ROUGH guide):

NRC Rankings in Math: They rank only Math, but sometimes rank schools twice if they have a separate applied math program.
In the math ranking, Brown appears twice:

16 for applied math, #27 for pure math.

USNWR ranks its program at #21 with a Peer Score of 4.0 (out of 5.0).

Those are actually pretty good rankings... there are a lot of schools that are very strong in math...
I forgot to say that one of my advisors at Berkeley who is a professor there got is applied math PhD from Brown.
