Brown vs full tuition to boston u

hey i have a dilemma and i want to hear what other people have to say

got into brown, something like 24k in fin. aid for the first year, but that would most likely disappear my soph, junior, and senior year b/c my family’s income would actually be normal then. i love brown and would go there if i didnt have my other choice-

i got the trustee scholarship @ boston university which is full tuition + some extra perks, ie brownstone housing, monthly gatherings w/ nobel prize winners, etc. as long as i maintain good academic/disciplinary standing

i want to go to both for different reasons.

thoughts?

Congratulations. My D got accepted at BU last year but didn’t get the Trustee Scholarship. Although she liked the academic program at BU, she chose another university because she didn’t like the urban setting and the financial aid wasn’t any more than any other college offered. What field are you planning on studying as it would make a difference if you are going to graduate school afterwards and the expense of that on top of undergrad loans. You should pick the school that has the best program in your field but saving $24000 or so just in your first year is a very big consideration. Have you visited both campuses as they are completely different campus settings. Brown has the enclosed campus feel while BU is an urban setting right in the city. Living in Providence which is a much smaller city than Boston is very different than living in Boston. Although there are things to do in Providence, it can’t match the social life of Boston, but that depends on what you are looking for socially as well.

thankss. im planning on studying biomed engineering, and bu has the better program for that. but im not 100% definite on that major. i have indeed visited both campuses.

BU, absolutely. Go for the money; you will never make that up.

I agree with HarryPotter1. That’s a huge savings, and BU has a better program in that field than Brown.

Go for BU buddy! others might have chosen for the money, but u got this money plus education under one of the best faculties in BU~ GOOD Luck in BU! Boston has so much fun!
