Brown Waitlist 2021

How did you find out @grinnellephant01

@grinnellephant01 did you literally just find out or did they call you this afternoon? Do you know if they contacted your GC head of time? Where are you from? If you don’t mind sharing, what are your stats? Congrats!! BTW, are you grinnelleplant because you were going to go to Grinnell College?

@douggy91 @grinnellephant01 until when have they given you to accept? Also what is your intended major?

Do any of you guys know how international students are contacted? Should I expect a call or should I just wait for the mail to arrive?

@Hamshank I’m wondering the same too! And conrgats to those who have been pulled off the waitlist and fingers crossed there’s more to come!

My portal has changed to this: “You may view the decision on your application beginning on the afternoon of May 11, 2017. Whatever the decision, we thank you sincerely for having applied to Brown.”
But the decision is still not up…
Anyone’s portal changed?

By the way, congrats to all who got off the waitlist!

Vivaabc - this was written for transfer students. They are notifying people on a rolling basis between now and end of June.

I am surprised that some people got off the waitlist because my reg counselor sent me an email yesterday telling me that I wouldn’t hear back for atleast a week.

Did anyone get a call from Brown today?

@scoutyboy I haven’t heard a thing :frowning:

I wish Brown would call us all, saying, “You were accepted off the waitlist!”

In previous threads, students are admitted around the same time frame (May 13th-15th) and then rarely do people get accepted after…I’m assuming the first wave is really the final wave and it is unlikely others will get accepted later. They usually dissolve the waitlist around early June. :-S

i wish we knew for sure when the first wave’ll happen/if it’s already over! i feel like we have competing intel about when people’re supposed to hear haha

Hi guys, ever since my D was waitlisted from Brown, I’ve been monitoring this thread and other sources to try to figure out how likely my D would be admitted off the waitlist. The number on Brown’s admitted students Facebook page has been getting smaller by one or two everyday since May 1st except Tuesday and this morning–the number were increased by 6 on this two days, means there were newly admitted students from waitlist.

In 2015, they made 295 offers to waitlisted students and 196 enrolled. Even though they admitted 339 more students last year, they still made 96 offers to waitlisted students. They admitted 197 less students than last year, so I feel they would admit more from waiting list this year.

It says there were 16 new members on the Facebook page, quite possibly all the waitlisted kids who got accepted. I do not think they will accept more, unfortunately, unless we get lucky.

16 is too small of a number. In 2014, the yield rate was extremely high at almost 60% and they still admitted 42 from waiting list. In order to fill in the 42 spots, they’d have to make 63 offers.

You’ve done your best and the rest is out of your control. It’s not the end of the world if you didn’t get off of the waiting list.

Parent of a waitlisted student here. All this past week I was hoping that my child would get “the call” from Brown Admissions, but it was not to be. Congratulations to those who have gotten off the waitlist. To the rest, I know that you are all accomplished students, deserving of a spot at Brown, which says to me that you will succeed at whatever school is lucky to have you. As for me, its time to pivot and leave all this drama and heartbreak behind. I am happy and actually quite relieved to turn the page. I’m confident that my child is going to absolutely crush it at their new home. Grad school beckons in a few years, and there’s no looking back…

To anyone else who has been accepted off the waitlist- have you gotten any official correspondence aside from the phone call? They told me they sent stuff in the mail but it hasn’t come yet, and I find it odd there hasn’t been an email or any change in my portal. Call me paranoid, but I just wish I had it in writing somewhere.
