I haven’t gotten an email/call, but I can see my financial aid (only the budget). I can access through the accept loan tab, another tab that says “Award Overview” and “Accept Award Offer”. Can anyone else open that? (I applied for financial aid.
I presume they will mail only the ones who are admitted off the waitlist since it’s a rolling admission? BTW, can anyone tell us how many were admitted off the waitlist in the previous years, maybe the last 3 years?
Couldn’t agree more!
Last year it was 82. Year before 192. Year before 57.
At all the schools, it really varies from year to year.
I wonder how we’ll know how many slots are open after May 1?
@800math i can see that. Did you get in?
@pdxtigermom I meant only 16 people we know of so far, but who knows! Anything can happen.
@800math hi, I can see these options too, but only when i manually select on the drop down menu ‘aid year 2017-18’. In the ‘current award information’ nothing is in that section
@nabeel12 If you really don’t want to take a gap year, there may still be some American colleges who have later admissions and have a very good transfer rate to higher schools. These schools may be less expensive also. I would not count on any financial aide. (You are too late in that game by applying late and really hurt your chances by not applying to a broader reach of schools.) Some schools that come to mind are Florida International University, and maybe BU. (both take a lot of international students. ) Also some states such as Virginia have programs where if you have a high grade point average in the state Community College system you can pretty much guarantee admission (and transfer of credits) into the state colleges. (Even to schools like UVA and Va Tech). Taking a year off to earn money for college and improve English skills if needed is also a good choice.
The wait listed is a rolling wait list. However the vast majority of the acceptances come out about now. There have been years when Brown “formally” did not use the wait list (although a few students did get in after the official announcement). After this wait-list round, if there are still slots, they will go through a very few more acceptances. They even do call students in the first week of school for a couple of “last minute” jump ship offers. (Things happen.) If you are so much dying to go to Brown that you would be ready to go at a minutes notice (and likely don’t need financial aid) let your admissions officer know that. Chances are really slim, but I’ve heard of a few cases like this every year. However do matriculate at the best fit school for you and plan on attending someplace that you did get accepted!
@sumaita7 I understand your frustration but over analyzing will only make you more frustrated. Things will happen when you least expect them. I’ve heard some students got accepted from the waitling list without putting in extra efforts, such as sending in LOCI, updated resume, etc. A lot of students turn down Ivies for much lower ranked schools, just to save money for their families or graduate schools. My D was very upset since she thought she would have better shots for those Ivies. Things didn’t happen as she planed and she’s ok with it. She’d save huge amount of money by graduating from college a year early and pursue double majors and music performance being one of the majors. She wouldn’t have chance to pursue a performance major if she could get into Brown.
@pdxtigermom Yes, I do agree. I also plan to double major in music performance (vocal)! Good luck to your daughter!
Does everyone have the cost of attendance tab?
Also, does that include financial aid? Because mine says $71,710, and if that includes FA, I should probably just take my name off the waitlist rn
Anyone else get off the waitlist? Are the chances pretty slim now that it’s already mid-May? :o
@lhw1998 Where’s the cost of attendance tab?
@lhw1998 I don’t have a cost of attendance tab but in my award overview it’s showing up as $71,050 for the overall costs. I thought it was just generic for everyone but it’s strange that you have a slightly different figure. (I’m applying for extensive financial aid so that surely can’t be the package!)
@lhw1998 oh sorry I see what you mean that it’s labelled as cost of attendance within the award overview! Very strange that they are different amounts by $700 as I thought cost of attendance was a set amount
Mine says 71,270. Maybe its because I have a 220 travel allowance?
Does that tab mean you got accepted?
