I want to open up a bank account, so that I can activate Bruin Direct. I was wondering what banks are located on campus?

do we HAVE to get bruin direct

Yeah, that's what I have also been wondering. Are all students required to get Bruin Direct or only those receiving financial aid?

You definitely do not HAVE to have Bruin Direct even if you are receiving FinAid. But, it makes things a LOT easier.

okay..so about the banks...which ones are located on campus?

b of a........

There aren't any actual banks on campus other than the university credit union. Washington Mutual, Bank of America, Wells Fargo all have ATMs on campus.

Bank of America, Washington Mutual, Citibank, and maybe a few others have branches in the village.

So what is a Bruin Direct account? Is it a way in which you transfer Fin. Aid money into your personal bank account? Whats the advantage for having one.

yeah..can some well-informed individual or Bruin please explain what in the world a Bruin Direct account is and all of its knicks and knacks/ other details? My mom wants to get one, but we pretty much have no clue what it is?

What is Bruin Direct?
It is the electronic deposit of your BAR refunds directly into your personal bank account.
All students are required to have Bruin Direct.

Which disbursements are eligible?
All BAR refunds, which include scholarships, grants, fellowships, stipends, loans and any non-payroll payments to students and post doctoral students.

so basically ur financial aid money is available in ur banking accounts?

only your refund is deposited into your bank account

pretend you have $3k in scholarships/financial aid, and the quarter's tuition is $2k. after paying your tuition, they still owe you that leftover $1k, so if you have bruindirect, instead of sending a check to your house, they'll just automatically transfer that money into your bank account.

if you've overpaid your tuition, the same thing happens, the leftover money automatically goes back to your bank account if you have bruindirect.

what if we have no financial aid? Does bruin direct pertain to us at all?

I was wondering if it's neccessary to have a bruin direct account? Anyone know? It doesn't really say in the letter.
