Hi guys,

Yes. Yes, it is.

i don't think bruindirect is a bank account... it's something the school uses to directly deposit funds (financial aid disbursements?) into whatever bank account you already have. if you don't have bruindirect, the school will write you a check that you can pick up and deposit it yourself. so i think having bruindirect is just a matter of convenience.

Supposedly, BruinDirect is mandatory because they won't send out checks. (Not sure about the ability to walk into Murphy to do it.)

Anyhow, that's the whole point... to get a bank account so that you can actually utilize BruinDirect. It's not an account. It's just authorization for the school to deposit financial aid disbursements and other refunds into your personal account.

Is it mandatory now?

I know I didn't set up my bruindirect on time, so they ended up mailing me checks (This was last year)

Oh.. shrug. That's what they have written in the documents.
