Bryn Mawr RD Decision Threads 2019

Accpeted!!!

Where is financial aid listed? I went self service -> financial and it says nothing was offered yet, but I know I should qualify for some based off finances. Do wait listers get fin aid packages? Also, do people who haven’t completely finished the to do list get a fin aid package?

@ibenheim I do not think waitlisters get fin aid packages. Once admitted off of wait list, the fin aid package would be created and made available.

Thanks again for the help! D got a very nice Presidential Scholarship! She now has to decide where to go. We are so grateful that everything worked out well. Good luck all!

Just checked my financial aid and I received the Presidential Scholarship as well!! I did not apply for need-based aid so I wasn’t thinking too much about checking the portal, but I’m so glad I did

Accepted!!

accepted :))) anyone know what the average Presidential Scholarship is?

Im devastated. I didnt get any financial aid and for that reason im not able to attend my dream school. Is there a way to go back to the school and ask for more?

The accept/ decline awards under fin aid? Should I only use that after I commit to Bryn Mawr, if I do?

My daughter was wait listed today and this is the first time in this process she broke down. This was supposed to be a safety school for her. Parchment.com said she had a 90% chance of being admitted. She has stellar academics, SAT of 2160 GPA 98/100 unweighted, Class rank of 3/238. 4’s and 5’s in her AP test and an AP scholar of distinction. Is there any one out there with similar stats that was wait listed or denied. She also was waitlisted from Wellesley when her friend was accepted with a lower class rank, lower test scores and my daughter visited and friend didn’t. I wish I knew what was wrong with her application that she is getting so many rejections, but is there anyone else wait listed with similar stats.

Accepted and very surprised

@robotrainbow sorry to hear about your D. My D got waitlisted from Wellesley with similar stats - 3.9UW GPA, 33 ACT, lots of APs, etc. 10 girls from her school applied and a lot got wait listed. Did your D get into other schools? If so, then these were just outliers and hard to know what happened. This process can be a roller coaster. Hope all works out well for you!

@robotrainbow‌ Hi, I’m a student from california and i’m having a similar experience. 2190 SAT, 4.6 UW GPA, AP Scholar with distinction, etc.

So far Bryn Mawr is the only school I’ve been accepted to. I’ve been waitlisted at Wellesley, Scripps, and Claremont-McKenna.

It truly is random. Test scores and grades don’t guarantee anything. Were her essays specific and eloquent? i know for a fact mine for Wellesley and Scripps were subpar to all of my other supplements, so that could very well be part of why I was waitlisted. Your daughter’s grades and scores sound in keeping with the students Bryn Mawr admits, so this seems to be a fluke for her.

Best of luck!!

Waitlisted, 4.0 GPA, 29 ACT, international student with a lot of financial aid needed. Anyway, I have already been accepted to Ithaca College, so I’m not that stressed now. Congratulations to all accepted!

accepted

My stats were pretty low compared to the rest of you, and actually pretty low in general, with an SAT that was around 2050. I got 4’s and 5’s on all my AP’s too. I think BMC really took into account * level of interest, * my interview with the head of admissions, and *extra curriculars and leadership roles. i also think my supplement was stellar.

Accepted, so exicted this was my first choice but there are so msny options i don’t know what im going to choose. Financial aid is going to play a huge role in my decision. Congrats to all who have been accepted and to those who weren’t, i’m sure you will end up where you are supposed to be.

I know a lot of decisions seem random given stats and predictions by Parchment.com and various other services. The thing is, is that - this has been said time and time again - it doesn’t all come down to stats.

@robotrainbow‌ I was wait listed and my stat’s are very similar to your daughter. I was also wait listed by Franklin & Marshall. Even though I expressed interest in BMC (had a sleepover and an interview with an alumna/regional admissions counselor), I wonder if they saw on my FA forms that I applied to Wesleyan and Amherst… @PlasticNebula‌ Is it extremely difficult to be admitted from BMC’s wait list?

@plasticnebula I think that is something to always keep in mind. BMC is a better fit for my D over Wellesley for a number of reasons. In fact, early on in this process I made a mental prediction list as to where my D would get in based on fit and was spot on. Of course this is just for her and others may not agree with how things worked out for their kids, but for us, things tracked pretty closely. I assume her personality and interests came through more clearly than I ever imagined in her applications.
