Bryn Mawr: Where do they go next

Does anyone have any statistics for where Bryn Mawr students go next? Like does anyone know where the majority of Bryn Mawr students go for graduate school? Do you have a decent shot of getting into the ivy leagues after attending Bryn Mawr?

I’m pulling these stats from a BMC brochure, but they might be helpful here:

–BMC is in the top ten among liberal arts colleges on The Wall Street Journal’s list of feeder schools to the nation’s top law, medical and business schools.
–Ranked #12 among all colleges and universities in percentage of graduates going on to earn a Ph.D.
–Over 80% admission rate to law schools
–Over 70% admission rate to medical schools

Bryn Mawr provides rigorous preparation for graduate school and I’ve rarely heard of people not getting into their top choices.

Just within my circle of friends I know people at Berkeley Law, Columbia School of Journalism, Harvard Graduate School of Education, University of Pennsylvania and Columbia (humanities PhD), NYU Stern, Johns Hopkins MD/PhD program, Northwestern (PhD), University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy and Practice, UCLA(PhD), etc. Those are just off the top of my head.

Ever year they release an article around commencement that features one student then outlines what other graduates will be doing. This was last year’s and should provide a fair snapshot: http://news.brynmawr.edu/2014/05/15/ten-years-after-first-setting-foot-in-classroom-laila-abdul-nabi-is-set-to-graduate-with-bryn-mawrs-class-of-2014/

Also, here’s an interesting breakdown of graduate school admissions feeder schools. Bryn Mawr is ranked highly throughout: http://beyondcollegerankings.com/?page_id=170

Great! Thanks very much.

Anecdotal data–take it FWIW. My D (BMC 2011) was part of a group of 6 women who were all friends at BMC. Here’s where they are 4 years post-BMC: 1) MIT Urban planning graduate program 2) Penn architecture school 3) Boston College Social Work School (MSW degree), 4) Staff person for a US Senator–applying to law schools next year
4) Working at Sirius radio in NYC–she was a music major 5) Yale School of Drama MFA 6) sales rep for a whiskey distributor in Chicago (she makes more $$ than all of the other combined!)

Its a while ago, but 3 members of my class went to Harvard Law School . . . BMC students do very well beyond campus.
