BS in Nursing

Does anybody know anything about the new (fall 06) program at UCLA that allows you to get a BS in nursing?

I'd like to know if it's extremely selective for application and if it's possible to change into that major if I were to be accepted. (I initially applied as a biology major)

It's extremely selective. I don't think you can just transfer in at will, there must be some very intense process.

well it's also a new program so...
they've got to accept people to get it started! xD

They used to offer the program years and years ago but stopped it because it was under funded. The "new" program has been in the works since 2004.

i'm in that nursing program right now. what would you like to know?

She would like to know this. :)

i'm not sure about how it is now since there's more applicants, but when i applied last year, the process wasn't TOO selective. about the same as regular admissions for UCLA...just make sure you have a good essay about why you want to enter the nursing profession in your statement.

i got into UCLA as psych first, and then applied for the program when it opened. i'm not sure about transferring in, but i don't think it'd be a huge problem.

good luck!

do only women pursue the nursing major, or is the pop. half and hlaf gender wise?

I have a few friends who are in the nursing program right now. They tell me that it is predominantly female (definitely not half and half).

..that shouldn't stop anyone from applying though! :D

there were three guys, and fifty something girls. one guy dropped out, so now there's only two in the BS program.

haha, i was planning to apply for nursing, now that its 2:50; no way lol. would be kinda uncomfortable.

dude, if you feel passionate about it, go for it.

Male nurses get paid more.

for the most part, male insert any career here get paid more unless women are severely underrepresented.
