BS/MD & BA/MD Programs in TX 2018

Hi everyone,

I wanted some of your opinions on what would be the best route for me to pursue a med path.

I’m currently in grade 12 and will be moving to TX at the end of grade 12 (June 2018) in the summer (from Canada). I will, therefore, apply to unis in TX as we will be living there. My family has a green card and we are permanent residents of the US.

I was researching BS/MD programs, and fast-track/accelerated med programs available in TX unis, however, the few I found either got discontinued (SHAPE @ UT Austin, FAME @ UTSA, UT-PACT @ UTD, etc.) or do not apply to me as I will not graduate from a Texas HS (like UMSI @ Texas Tech).

Are there any other options I have that you may know of? I have heard of the Baylor/Rice program… but they only accept 4 people…

Please let me know!! Appreciate all of your help:)

@anonymousv UT Houston also states student must be TX resident. So mostly you may not qualify to apply to TX BS/MD program. But you should check any other BS/MD program and if you are eligible you may consider.

But since TX is one of the best place to be for any prospective medical student, consider strongly to join any UG program in Texas than going to any other states. UT Austin is a good place and so are many other options with in TX.

@GoldenRock Thanks so much for ur reply:) I will look more into it

There is also Baylor/Baylor, which accepts a few more than the Rice/Baylor
