Great points for those of us barely get any interview. However, ranking may not be important, but it will determine how hard to get in and get out for a great match.

@desi when did RPI send u supp? I haven’t heard back from RPI yet.

@proudafrican I agree, but it also depends on what you are looking to specialize in and where you would like to go. Ranking is not the only thing that determines where you are matched, I am sure of that.

I agree with @Bombingrange - Ranking in the end does not count much for med schools. How well you do in your med school plays a more important role when residency matching is done. Having said that, if you are very interested in some cutting edge research while you are in med school, some of the higher ranked schools would be a good choice. But offcourse it would be good to just get into at least one bs/md program before discussing the ranking of the college :)

I would disagree with above–when applying for residency–the ranking of your medical school matters–which brings up the fascinating question of whether it may not be the right choice to attend a combined program…

I never said it doesn’t matter, but name cannot be the only factor in placement.

sorry to clarify–my last sentence–re attending a combined program vs regular undergrad followed by MD school. Sometimes it be a better choice depending on this person’s interests, etc. Certain undergrad programs offer unique opportunities that might not say be available at other undergrad schools that offer combined programs. It all depends on the person. The advantage of the combined program is that you have the opportunity to really devote yourself to volunteer work and/or research instead of spending time applying and interviewing as an undergraduate. Use the advantage of a combined program to spend the time doing something worthwhile.

I know that Siena/AMC had a few choices of interview days. For anybody who has gone already, what is the format of the interview?

thebombingrange - how was GW interview? what did u feel after the interview? how did others react?

They were super short, only 30 min. Everybody else said the same thing. They called 29 out of 850 this year, total of 8-12 seats.

Has anyone heard back from U. Rochester’s REMS yet??

@hcarmingkarma: I was told they are running behind and may sent email mid Feb. Interviews are in March

Tsocash on the URoc thread said priority review decision will be mailed on 2/15, I would think REMS would need to be decided by then…

for those going to the PSU-JMC interviews…
are you planning to attend the “Optional Meet and Greet” on Tuesday, February 12, 2013?
I’m going to be staying at my aunt’s in DE and I’m worried whether I should attend or not…

PSU-Jeff reception is not mandatory - so I am sure you dont have to feel compelled to attend. But I think it is a good event to get feedback from current students.

TSOcash admissions officer Rochester said REMS invitees not before March 1.

Will next week BU interviews get delayed due to the snow storm?

Anyone going for the U CONN interview 2/14 or 2/19?

First post - went to the PSU Jeff reception last year and it was a great experience. The current Jeff students were very helpful and great to talk to, and it also helped to ease the anxiety of the next day. I think 96 interviewed, 52 were accepted and 29 enrolled. Good luck!

I have been fortunate enough to have had several interviews already.
- Union/Albany
- BU
- GW
- Miami

I also have Northwestern, Penn State/Jefferson, Pittsburgh, and Drexel coming up. Still waiting on Rochester and Rice. Any news on when those come out?
