Congrats! So if they are forwarding only 4, how many seats does Robert Morris have at Drexel?

@texaspg, my son was not told except that there is not a fixed number of applicants Drexel has to interview.

@texaspg, we always have a lot of opinions on most issues. So what do you think about those very early rejections from Union/AMC and RPI/AMC (about one week from submitting the supplementals) that we are seeing on CC today?

I was wondering if Robert Morris has a fixed number of seats at Drexel which most feeder agreements define (not how many to interview but how many to accept).

AMC could request to review fewer applications. I don’t know how they are able to accept or reject as soon as they come in since all the students submit are essays. If people already know the essay topic and have it written upfront, it makes no difference in this whole charade of getting people to sign up, pay a fee, submit 3 essays. They could write those essays ahead of time and submit rather than go through this ridiculous process of giving people a week to write them and turn around to reject them the next week.

@texaspg, I note from the website that the agreement was up to five seats a year at Drexel from Robert Morris.

My take is that the early rejections are those application AMC considered definitely not going to be competitive. This can hardly be made based on the essays. So, if it is based on the initial applications, the UG schools (e.g. Union) should by now be familiar with what AMC is looking for and so should not just send the applications to AMC regardless of whether the applicants would be competitive based on the application pool and the selection from the previous years.

I kind of feel like AMC just swindled me out of $110 if they rejected my application within less than a week.

It would be worse if they did that times 3 for anyone since Sienna and RPI can also send them apps.

It is interesting that Robert Morris will send only 4 for interview when they can admit 5. So it is like a guaranteed seat for those 4.

Just got rejected from PSU/Jefferson… Seems like today is just not a good day for me. :/

@texaspg, hope that is the case.

@thejerseygirl, I feel for you and the other students. Unfortunately there is nothing one can do about it. Even with all the information so far and knowing that this is the case and can be considered by some as unethical, if my son is invited to submit the supplemental, I would still ask him to do so. This is how they play with your emotion!

OK so yesterday it was so nice hearing interviews etc and I come home today to all these AMC rejections - ugh. My S just submitted his supp so next week we may join you.

@IMGDAD I agree with you about the emotions - I felt for all getting rejections today but I was shocked at those #'s posted before that 300 are forwarded! 90 interviewed. Of course a bunch are going to be rejected.

I don’t think Union or RPI know what the pool of applicants are for AMC each year or who even gets accepted - not all who get accepted enroll so they won’t know. From what I recall them saying 2 yrs ago - AMC is also interviewing from the traditional applicant pool and accepting as they go. There isn’t one day when acceptances are sent out - it’s staggered into April. I know people who were on the waiting list at AMC in March and were then accepted in April. With each pool of supplements and applications they re-rank the students.

As painful as rejections may be, our family is thankful for getting a chance to fill out a supplement. Albany Med is awesome. This process is good development for you young people. This is the spice of life. Be proud to say you were considered for such a prestigious program. Feel the confidence for getting this far - let it boost you to help you in your other interviews. You guys are cream of the crop and awesome. Whether through here or somewhere else you are going to achieve amazing things others would only dream of. This is just a glimpse into your potentials.

My D had a bunch of interviews and supplements for this and that which never worked out and her final interview ever was the RPI/AMC one. I am thinking it was in the stars for her to have all those practices for the one that really counted.
Keep your heads up!

Thank You for all the input!! I really appreciate it. Good luck to everyone!

hi guys! i’ve been a long time lurker since freshmen year haha. I received the rpi supp over winter break and submitted it 12/30. Today i received an invitation for an interview. even though amc rejected so many early apps, i think amc just wanted to rip the bandaid off quickly for some rather than keep you waiting like a certain boston university smed program -__- haha anyway, honestly, I truly believe everyone will end up where they need to be. good luck you guys!!

I submitted my rpi/amc supplement on 12/25 and i haven’t heard back at all!

Can anyone comment on the quality of education and just the general environment at AMC? I tried looking up rankings but there were none. Anyone have information?

Wow where were all the people who got RPI supplements hiding? I still haven’t heard from them. And the wait continues… Congrats to all who were asked to submit though!!

@Caj2014- I’m sorry about the bad news today. You win some, you lose some. I’m sure there will be other programs that you’ll get into! A lot of this is pretty random too, so don’t lose hope!! :D

How are people being notified about the PSU/Jefferson program? On their MyPennState page or via email?

Interesting that when we checked the Penn State portal this evening, the status has changed to “Congratulations on your acceptance to Penn State! I am pleased to offer you admission to The Eberly College of Science for Fall 2014 at Penn State University Park.”

But no mention of the PMM program, even though that was the intended major on the application. Wondering what this all means, and if it is worth a call to the undergrad admissions office.

@bsmd14 and @frozenshardz - do you have any changes to your status?

@silverwind I was notified by email

@coquifrog, if you are accepted into the Eberly College of Science at Penn State, it means your application has not been forward to Jefferson. Sorry for the bad news.

Thanks for the clarification. I also thought it meant the same. Oh well!
