*** BS/MD Interview Notification for Class of 2014***

@coquifrog, yes, yesterday evening S’s status changed to “Congratulations on your acceptance to Penn State! I am pleased to offer you admission to The Eberly College of Science for Fall 2014 at Penn State University Park.” As IMGDAD stated, from past years’ posts, it means they have not forwarded the application to Jefferson.

@starlight 27, thanks. I still have hope!

First time poster :slight_smile: Really encouraged by the nice people and positive support by everyone on the thread.
My D has applied to few programs. She did “not” receive Drexel email about forwarding her app to the med school and when we called, Drexel AO told us that they did send the email, but may be an issue with Comcast email address she has. They can’t resend the email. Did anyone experience this issue with Comcast.net email addresses.
We now changed her email to gmail and hope to get the next communication from Drexel Med school about paying the application fee. If you guys can be kind and let us know when you receive further comms from Drexel Med School, we would appreciate it.

@ desis do you have your spam in comcast to save emails? Geez this is scary. My S also has comcast email and how are we to know if this is a problem - call admin I guess.

My S completed Kean interview on campus. 12 students in the morning session. Total 74 applicants, 52 called for interview, 20 will be forwarded to Drexel. Final list of 12 will be picked. Top 5 given spots and then filled as vacancies come up.

Kean has a great STEM building. Met a current student who got accepted to Brown BS/MD and RPI/AMC but decided this program due to the GPA and MCAT requirements only. Apparently not everyone starting Brown on RPI in the programs end up going to Med School as they winnow students

@Midhelper Yes I did. Not in the SPAM folder either. For now, I had Drexel change her email in the system to gmail. Hope we get future emails from them.

MedicalBoy, Talked to NJIT. I was told that end of Jan or early Feb is when Medical School would notify us regarding the interviews.

Do you guys know how many apps does NJIT sends to med school ?

Has anyone received the letter from Siena yet? Apparently it was sent out on Monday this week.

@IMGDAD I got the letter for an interview in the mail on jan 3rd

Congrats, peppermintpig96. I assume those letters sent this Monday are the rejections.

My Penn State status says: We are in the final stages of review and an admissions decision will be posted here in the coming days.
This waiting is killing me!

@BiomedFather, Thanks for the numbers on the Kean/Drexel program (my S did not apply to the Kean/Drexel program, but it is helpful to know). These numbers are a bit different from the ones IMGDAD posted yesterday; perhaps the numbers given by the interviewers are approximate. It is good to know that Drexel tries to fill all of the 5 slots.

I am surprised to note that a student who got Brown’s PLME decided to join Kean/Drexel. Drexel currently requires an MCAT score of 31 (apparently some students in Drexel’s programs fail to meet the MCAT 31 requirement).

@bsmd14 Do you know the reason for choosing Drexel over Brown?

@bsmd14
The numbers are what Judy April told the parents and students. Don’t know why its different from what @IMGDAD posted.

The student said the choice of Kean over Brown was that only a portion of those who start BS/MD at Brown end up into the MD portion. Further the student did not have fin aid for UG at Brown. At Drexel its apparently just meeting the GPA requirement and getting 31 on the MCAT. The student felt there was no pressure at Kean and could focus on learning with ample time to do well on the MCAT. Also as per the student Residency match at Drexel was not that different from Brown and AMC. I found the comments interesting. Also most Kean students we met are day scholars and commute from home.

Didn’t get a Union or Siena interview :frowning: Still have RPI to wait for, good luck to all

@coloredenigma
Good luck with RPI. Did you get an email or letter from Union or Siena indicating that you were not selected?

peppermintpig96, Congrats. Is this interview letter from Siena/AMC? When is the interview?When did Siena/AMC send a supplemental app?

@BiomedFather
I received an e-mail from Union and letter from Siena.

My daughter got.her Siena letter today and was not considered for AMC. Union never sent an email or letter rejecting but her portal status indicates reject status. Sent supplement to RPI and waiting to hear back.
