BS/MD programs chances

I am a New Jersey resident. Here are my stats:

SAT: 1510
GPA :3.6 out of 4 unweighted (at “rigorous” college prep school). 3.83 weighted
APs: AP Bio, AP English, AP Calc AB. Senior year- AP Chem, AP Comp Sci, AP Calc BC.

Volunteer work:
Volunteered at local Library for a year by teaching math to local kids (might become head of this club).
Volunteered at local ESL for a year.
Was a “prefect”, leadership position, at school for a year and heading into my senior year as well.

Shadowed an orthopaedic doctor during this summer. Will be going to a Georgetown Medicine camp this summer.
Planning to organize shadowing opportunities for younger kids at my school via the “Future Doctors of America” club at my school.

Extra things:
Played JV and Varsity Soccer for 4 years.

BS/MD programs I am looking at:
Drexel 3+4;
Rowan-Cooper 3+4;
RPI-Albany six-seven year program;
Rochester (REMS) program (8 years)
Penn State- Thomas Jefferson seven year program

Regular Colleges I am thinking about:
Tufts
Rutgers (honors college)
Lehigh
Georgetown

RPI/Albany is 7 yr. program, and without much research your chance would be better at either Sienna or Union program rather than at RPI.

@blue1223

  1. Drexel is no longer a true BS/MD guaranteed program. Hope you are aware of it.
  2. Any reasons why you not applying for any BS/MD or regular UG programs within NJ. Chances are high and also In state tuition.
  3. Agree with @upstream. no RPI. go for Sienna or Union depending on your strength in volunteering or leadership
  4. You can explore BS/MD programs like UConn or GWU or VCU which are within the range of your other programs.

APs and ECs seem to be appropriate and tailored to your major. However, especially for BSMD programs you’re going to need a higher GPA and higher SAT scores to get in, simply due to the limited seats. Get your SAT to a 1550 minimum. I personally recommend the ACT, because I found it much easier back when I took it.
