Bsc 2044l

Can someone please explain how this class is different from the regular general biology labs, in terms of its difficulty and how much time it would require out of class.

I also plan on taking this with CHM 2045 with its lab and I wanted to know if that would be feasible.
I was also wondering what are the differences between the biology class with 3 professors and 1 professor.

Hey I’m finishing up my first year here and I have taken/am in all the classes you mentioned. BSC2044L is an accelerated Biology 1 and 2 lab, taken in one semester. Normally you would do Bio 1 lab with the class, and then bio 2 lab, but this combines it. The stuff you do in 2044L is really different, and you are using techniques/materials that is normally used in higher level research work. It is not “hard”, but can be time consuming because it is 4 hours long.

Chm 2045 lab is really easy, but if this is your first semester I would not take all CHM2045, CHM2045L, BSC2044L, and BSC2010 and any other electives…take it easy. I underestimated chm2045 (the class), and had to pay for it with my grade.

The bio class with 3 professors is basically what it sounds like, you will rotate professors throughout the semester. I had Levy/Barbazuk/Gillooly this semester and it isn’t bad at all. Depends on how much you like bio really…
With one professor you just have that professor all year. My roommate has that one and she doesn’t like the professor…so make sure you check if they have good ratings first.

Thank you for the advice.
Who is the professor for the BSC 2044L class? And by check the ratings, did you mean ratemyprofessor.com?
I was interested in the lab because I wanted to have experience with such research equipment.
I don’t mind the time consumption, I was worried about it’s difficulty.
I’m still debating on taking both chem and bio so I will certainly consider your advice.
Thank you.

You’re welcome! The lab “professor” is David Julian, but you don’t ever see him. It is taught by TA’s, who are trained for this lab. And yes, ratemyprofessors.com is the best place to check for reviews. Good luck!

Does anyone has more info about BSC2044L?
