I need some advice and the faculty at my school aren’t the most helpful. After deciding med school wasn’t for me, I came back to school for engineering. I am currently a CE and thought I would do structural engineering (family friend owns a firm), but I can’t shake the urge to do Aerospace. What I would like to do is get my BSCE then get MSAE and go work for nasa/jpl/spacex type company. The reason I want to get my BSCE is so that I can use it to get a structural job if I move back to my home state (i.e. no aerospace). I can take the required classes for BSCE and also take aerospace ME courses that are offered here (propulsion, astronautics, thermo, ect.). The additional ME classes would prepare me for an aerospace masters as well as provide for incredibly interesting classes to take.
I have about 2 years left with CE but would have about the same amount of time left if I switched to ME. I could change to ME, but the reason above is making me hesitant to switch.
Does this sound like a completely ludicrous plan? I know it is ambitious with the extra classes but it is doable. Social life and the whole “college life” is of no concern to me for other reason.
