Any other international applicant’s parents gotten an email from the BU president congratulating the parents, asking them to help their child make the right choice (BU), and trying to make them comfortable about sending their child to the U.S.? It might’ve been sent to all international applicants’ parents or it could be a regional thing.

@AurangFall17 I received the email from the BU president as well but my child is not an international applicant and, therefore, there was no mention of sending our child to the U.S… I am guessing all admitted students’ parents received a domestic or international version of the email.
@intstudent2021 I need to see all my offers before deciding. The cost of an American university is simply too much and without a scholarship from BU it doesn’t work for me. It’s incredibly hard to find external scholarships, from what I’ve seen, that grant at least 50K. External scholarships won’t help in the long run for American universities!

@botcom Can you help me understand how housing works? I know your D completed her housing application. We won’t complete the housing application until next weekend. My son’s acceptance said he has priority selection for freshman housing. When does this housing selection begin? Is there a date provided or does your D already know which dorm she will be assigned? Sorry for all of the questions. I can’t figure this out on the BU housing site.
My daughter submitted her application as soon as it went up. She already knows she’ll be in Shelton/Kilachand, but others won’t learn their assignments until mid-summer.

Room assignments for freshmen students are made after the following are received by the University:
the completion of this application
the submission of the $650 enrollment deposit.
A number of factors are considered when making room assignments including residence and campus areas requested, initial date the application is submitted, program of study, mutual roommate requests, and space availability at the time the room assignment is finalized.
Interest in a specific residence, residence type, or residence rate does not guarantee placement in such.
Your room assignment will be released over the summer (in July or August). You will be directed back to this application to view your room assignment, on-campus mailing address and telephone number, residence and dining plan charges, roommate’s name, and information regarding fall move-in.

@MissAnthropy well yes, current freshmen, sophomores, and seniors are going through the process of selecting their housing for next year right now.
@paveyourpath looks like @EofA1120 was able to answer your questions. D filled out the form and made a roommate request. so now will wait and see. Waiting until July or August is going to be hard.
Thanks @botcom. Yes, waiting is going to be hard. There are so many different locations and room types. At least I now have a good understanding of the meal plans. That’s a start.
Where can you see rooms are unavailable?!?! I don’t see that on mine.

@hopeful129 Here: https://www.bu.edu/housing/assignments/selection/availability/ It refreshes every 5 minutes. You don’t have to be logged into the housing portal. I found it while searching for information
