B or B+ has been the median grade in the vast majority of the classes I’ve taken. Other than a few of the intro science/premed courses, I’ve never heard anyone actually complain about it. Without a B median, grades aren’t useful for differentiating between above average students. I’m not sure how I feel about using harsh curves (median below B-) in intro classes to weed kids out of science/premed majors. It might be better to just curve those classes to B like all the other classes and require a 3.5 to continue the program, or something like that. That way, you’d stop the idiots from being doctors, but their GPAs wouldn’t make them look any worse than the political science kids.

BS/MD track program? I do not want get chewed at BU. LOL!!!

If you get into the 7 year program chances are you do not need to worry about grade deflation.

Thank you BUBailey. Also what about the Honors College programs? They usually have fewer kids and they do not use the typical bell-shpaed curve to grade the course. Am I right on this?

Does this apply at COM?

the honors college classes probably won’t be using a curve, you’re right. since the class is smaller and all the students are the cream of the crop, the grade distribution is likely less harsh.
